Title: FTP at SS
Post by: dbvirago on September 24, 2013, 14:42
Is anyone having extremely slow processing of files uploaded by FTP? I only upload 10 at a time and for the last week, it is taking many hours to show up.

If so, would you mind posting on their forum at  http://submit.shutterstock.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=125708 (http://submit.shutterstock.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=125708)  so we can get a little momentum going?

Both their and support seems to think it is an isolated problem with my (and the other half dozen people posting an identical problem) FTP client. Since the files show up on their side of the FTP server immediately, but take 6-10 hours to show up for processing instead of the few minutes it has taken for the last 7 years, this makes no sense, but I've only been doing IT work for 30 years so what do I know?

Why bother with FTP for small batches of images? I just use the drag & drop page and find it very quick indeed.

I had the same happen to me the last days. I decided to just go to bed and submit them the next day. Annoying, yes, but does not matter too much to me.

I got a script that uploads at 3AM every day so in the morning I can submit files. For last couple days not all files are ready after 4 hours from upload. Sometime they appear after 5-6 hours. Maybe it is backlog and I have to start upload 2 hrs ealier :-)

Similar to the Mohican, I have my FTP software set up to upload to all my sites with a couple of clicks. I could completely automate it like he did, but there are days when I don't want to upload, so my way is safer.

For SS, I will probably go back to the drag and drop page until 1)they admit they have a problem and 2) fix it. This usually takes multiple complaints, which is why I posted over here.
