I noticed that I only have 8 photos in my portfolio. I did not make any sales and every dis I make a sale. What is going on?

I did not actually find my photos through the search engine, meaning the clients can not find my images.

Yup. 90% of my port is gone. Searching by "new" is screwed up...shows images from last year. what. I really do think they hired away iStock staff. Breaking things on a regular basis during the busiest time of year.

I have 500 images, apparently (should be 2,200-ish). Plus, a search I do often that has about 28,000 results now has just over 4,000

Calm down everybody!
As they are making changes on the site it is probably a temporary glitch.
Don't worry, they have backups and backups of backups…

It's not just that there is some glitch, but that it happens mid-day on the East coast and it will affect sales. Adjustments should be made on a Saturday evening.

By the way, i currently have a sale of one of my "deleted" images, so i think that it is not big problem, the problem is just related to how our portfolios looks to us, but images are still active and selling...

Why are they tweaking and fiddling with the actual site instead of using an offline test version?

Because beta testers cost…

The portfolio is back, the crybabies can dry their handkerchiefs ...

Not mine, I'm still dripping and soggy.  :) I have one page for my entire portfolio. No matter which sort I click it's the same page. Oh wait, it's back, all I needed to do was wait a few minutes. But best match is now popular, best sellers first, popular is some bizzaro collection of never sold images, new is actually new. Two out of three ain't bad. Meat Loaf is dead. SS is just broken again, like usual.  :-\

In protest I'm not uploading anything new, until tonight or tomorrow. That will have them scared. I bet they quake in fear at the NY office when anyone says, I'm never uploading again, and then an hour later is crying about how their latest 40 uploads didn't work right.  ::)

So what did happen here then? Do we have lost sales, what was the glitch, why has this happened again? Will SS ever answer these questions in a transparent manner we can perhaps never expect from coorps??

Why does this issue of ports vanishing keep on happening??

That would explain why I sold 3 clips in a row that had no sales before.

Check your monitor, check your eyes, check in with your doctor if the colors all look wacky. Or just have another martini and kick up your feet. It will be better tomorrow and broken again the day after. What is this, the first time the whole site has gone nuts? We should all be used to this by now. Are you surprised anymore when your computer locks and shuts down? When the web goes dead? When you get a site not found or 404 error?

It's not abnormal it's the usual.

The whole popular change is somebody reversing the > and that's just like computers and programming, isn't it? Tomorrow it will be back to crazy with best images somewhere near the front, but nonsense. Why do we care when it's irrational and changes by the hour or day? Then changes back to something just as stupid.  :)

It worked for a week or two, that's different.

Shutterstock is the new istock I don't know what Oringer thinks his minions are up to but they seem determined to screw the company and they are either terminally stupid or doing it deliberately.

I dont know. It has never happened to me and if it did I can fix it or with a Phone call  have a guy here in 20 minutes..My wife also, she runs the Box Office around the world for all the major studios and If something isint right. It's fixed in a heartbeat. Doing Microstock is pretty low on our Joint priority Business Income List.. you can pretend you Love the Place all ya want. they could care less about you or anyone else. All I want is a site to be time and cost effective because I am.. all else is whining in My book.

And if it's on there side, then fix it, * it. I don't need anyone "Advocating" for me and change. I want them to do the Job "WE" pay for. * It. And I want smart people working for us. People that should have known to test this first.....Period. Yada,Yada.

It's not looking good this morning. Most popular is completely screwed up. In one of my niches my most popular file has suddenly been replaced in the search by a ripoff of my illustration that's been on the site for a while and never performed very well before.

If they kept 10% of our earnings I could maybe cut them some slack. But if you're going to keep such a huge percentage of our money that you make yourself a billionaire, you really should be able to hire competent people.

But you aren't surprised when your computer suddenly hits a page not found or 404 error, because it happens every day. Your IT guy can't fix the way we are so dependent on others systems on the internet. That's the point. And yes they should have tested better to start with.

Mine was doing that yesterday, it's a total mess isn't it. Then someone will figure out what punctuation was dropped from one line of the code and fix it again until someone else gets their fingers in and makes another error. SS is still running on unsupported, outdated software. Notice when you upload to FT it's instantly also on Adobe? When we upload to SS it's there, then gone and a day later there, maybe later missing again. They can't keep their own files organized on their own servers and it takes up to three days to get synced.

I still say this is the norm now with computers and the internet. When Yahoo lets millions of accounts data out in the wild, when you visit sites and they are down for unknown reasons, when your home computer suddenly slows down, without a reason and is fine again minutes later. If my car ran as unreliable like the internet I'd have it in or junk it.

By the way https://www.shutterstock.com/blog/new-artist-submission-system (https://www.shutterstock.com/blog/new-artist-submission-system) new system allows uploads of video and images together, finally I see a reason they dropped it on us. Give it some time.

And yes, to you too, they should have tested better to start with.

I think what we're seeing is that Oringer was able to take advantage of a model that made him rich. However, running a company is not his strong point.  Good leaders know how to build a strong infrastructure, build a positive culture, has excellent integration of the business platforms and has a robust annual operating plan and also a long range plan. Just read everything that is spelled out on Glassdoor, the stuff we see happening now, etc. That is poor leadership.  Agree that downtime is simply part of business, but everything I see tells me that there is horrible leadership at SS, no plan that includes anything other than hitting numbers at any cost.  Good companies also build people, they build relationships, they build capability, they diversify. I bet their KPI's are different for each group within SS.  And those KPI's are in conflict with other departments.  An example of a mismatched KPI is I need to build more widgets that the customer asked for because it lowers my cost per widget (my KPI).  The distribution center need less widgets because it is really expensive to store those widgets; they have to have the real estate to store, and have to pay taxes on those finished goods.  Those are conflicting metrics.  When that happens, companies become chaotic. Stack horrible people management on top of that, allow cliques to form and have control, and no processes to form good SOP and cross-platform integration and you are going to get something tantamount to what we see at SS today.

It's broken. I can not copy and paste multiple keywords (comma delimited) as before.

Way too many clicks and right column scrolls.

How can they think this is an improvement?
