Title: How much is needed to get into "top 50 images of the week"?
Post by: spike on September 16, 2013, 23:53
Hey guys, I guess some of you had their images "featured" in the top 50 images of the week. What I'm wondering is, how many dl's per day does that actually mean? My bestseller image has been downloaded around a 1000 times in around 450 days and I am wondering what is the scale here. How many times does an image has to be downloaded in a week in order for it to be in the top 50 of that week.

For starters, I don't think that page has been updated since around February or earlier - a lot of Valentines images in there last I looked.

But to answer your question, who knows really? I have had an image sell 15-20 times a day for a month and not appeared in there. All relative to time of year and comparative sales I guess. Some weeks when sales are low 5 a day might do it, busy times you may need 25 a day.

It used to be around 8-10 DLs per weekday. But as mentioned, the page is broken.

Be happy you haven't had anything in the Top 50. It's a cures more than anything else. Something hits the Top 50 and you've got a dozen copycats reproducing your image. It kills off sales fast.

I really hope they never fix that feature. Or if they do, give us a way to opt out of it.

Thanks, I was wondering about the scale of those images, I assumed it would be much higher, like 25+ per day. And thanks for the additional insight. :)

I got into top 50 many times, and once had the no 1 image of that list.. it had like 25 dls on the first day.. and 10-15 dls following days..

but as mentioned above, I'd rather never be in the top 50.. I prefer to have many dls but stay just outside of the top 50 for the obvious reasons.. that feature needs to be killed off..  :D
