I just saw this on the SS forum and though I'd post it here as well for those who are uploading right now.

Dear Contributors,

Over the past few days, Hurricane Sandy has caused significant power outages and damage in the northeast of the United States. Thankfully our customer and contributor websites are functioning normally. However, as our team recovers from the storm, you may experience temporary delays with the review and approval process.

We appreciate your patience and thank you for your understanding.

Kind Regards,
Your Shutterstock Team

Thanks for that, it didn't occur to me that SS might be caught up in the Sandy disaster. Amazing that they've managed to keep the site working seamlessly throughout.

Remarkable contrast to one or two other agencies I could mention who frequently fall victim to 'disasters' without any influence from the forces of nature.

Thanks for posting this Tyler.  As I have been watching the devastation on the news, I hadn't thought about SS offices being headquartered in NYC.

I was quite worried about my daughter in Baltimore on Monday because we couldn't reach her, and the eye of the storm passed right through there.  Fortunately we heard from her yesterday that she's fine.  As a Floridian, she is used to hurricanes and was completely nonplussed by the whole thing.   I guess her area was not one of the harder hit ones, because they already have power restored.

Hope anyone with relatives in that area is equally fortunate.

I was wondering about SS myself... hope none of the staff or their families were badly affected.  The footage looked dreadful.  Glad your daughter is OK Lisa.  Sending good thoughts and vibes to SS, and to all in NYC and affected areas.

Glad that you daughter is safe Lisa.  You must have been really worried when you couldn't contact her.

I'm watching CNN and at the moment (5 Eastern?) they said that 6 million people in 15 states plus DC are still without power.  Looks like it may be quite a while before a lot of them have it restored to!

Don't we usually start the month with a $0 balance?  I totally get why we haven't received the "We are sending you money" e-mail.  I wonder how they are fairing at their head office.  They are saying that there is no power or public transit south of 34th.  Looks like SS is inside the dark zone!

Had a batch reviewed but now having upload problems.
Also noted that Earnings has NOT  changed to Zero.  Maybe that happens after the earnings email?

Actually, seem to being quite well, all things considered.

Folks,

Thanks for making us aware of the issue. This is tied to the calculation of your monthly payment (you may have also noticed you didn't get that email today). We're running a little behind due to the conditions in NY and now we're double checking everything to make sure it's all correct. You should see the monthly total figures reset and get the email by tomorrow. You will still get your payouts on time as expected.

We're really sorry for the delay and any inconvenience. Thanks for your patience.

Why not just post the meat of the matter?

That proves that the distribution servers are not in an underground bunker at the seashore as I thought they would have been.

It worries me if the reviewers are, thats not humane!

Can't say I've actually experienced any problems, despite the disaster in NYC. My last couple of batches have been reviewed very quickly, within a couple of hours for one last night.

Credit to the SS team for keeping things running so smoothly.

Yes, I was surprised to find that this batch was actually reviewed one day faster than the last one.

Thumbs up!

I live about 5 miles west of the Jersey coastline. It is real bad here. Many homes along the coast are ruined or just completely gone.

I drove 50 miles west to get an internet connection so that I can work for a while at my day job.

Pretty much all of NJ is without power. It has been coming back in some areas.

NYC is also bad is many areas. The fact that Shutterstock employees, if working from NYC, are even able to work at all is very impressive.

So sorry to hear that sbonk.  I saw some of the footage from NJ, and it just looked devastated. Awful!

Wishing you and all affected well with the recovery process.

The problems aren't affecting SSTK stock price either. They've crept up to $25 from a starting price of $17 less than a month ago.

The first quarterly report should provide a nice boost too judging by the number of BME's being reported here. If you've got a decent-sized portfolio at SS you've actually got significant 'inside information' as to how the business is doing.
