Would be interesting to know how many people will be getting the shaft, no?

I really doubt that the numbers would be the same is SS did it. If they think someone should realistically be able to get 50k sales at Bigstock, the number they'd come up with for SS would probably at least double that, if not more.

Surely there's no way they think anyone will be getting 50000 dls on bigstock?
I was assuming they had just rolled out the same targets in advance of a site merger or similar.

Either that or they really just had no idea what a realistic number would be. Maybe someone at Bigstock just called over to SS and said, "Hey, we're starting subscriptions and need to set milestones. Give me a number that the top 0.5% of your contributors reach in a year".

Maybe they're really thinking they're going to see the same volume as SS. No idea why they think that, but who knows what is being discussed over there.

Good point, could be they are just hedging their bets, but I bet there's no way they will dropping the levels when they realize they are unrealistic. These things sadly only seem to move in one direction.

Who knows what any of these guys will do but SS have done nothing in my brief time there to suggest they will do such a thing.  So far, they have done a good job keeping the suppliers happy (rejection complaints aside) and I'd suggest they are not dumb enough to "fix" something that ain't broken.

Almost every other agency has "fixed" things that weren't broken, I hope SS is smarter than that, but I won't bet on it.

I guess it would have been handy if there was a way to do a side by side what people are currently earning on SS for subs downloads

SS  - 38 cents
BigStock - 25 cents (after the announcement, 137 downloads in 2012)

for this poll 33 cents

I don't know about shaft, because if I get more downloads at BS and don't lose downloads at SS, I'd be getting more? As long as the BS Subs are in addition to SS income, I'm fine with it.

Would I be happier with a flat, total sales based level, of course.

So your question is 100% hypothetical? Right? My sales on SS in a month are more than I make on BS in a year. Hard to make a reasonable comparison.

Looking forward to a survey based on ThinkStock subs vs BS subs in 2013. That one is going to be interesting? ThinkStock flat rate, no levels, never changes vs one with at least a little hope for some people of making it above 28c a download.  :)

Surely there's no way they think anyone will be getting 50000 dls on bigstock?

Yup you got it. Almost no one except a few of the big agency collections with 40,000 images. And some with stale materials probably won't get that level either!

I do more every month with SS that I have made at BigStock since April 2009 (46 months)

1 month at SS = 67 months at BigStock

Funny I just went in and checked my total 2012 downloads.  I have 3100 images there.  I had 742 downloads for the entire year. These goons can go kiss my right nut.

I think the targets are way too high. But remember that they'll be counting subscriptions sales on bigstock which will increase everybodies download count.

Seems like they should just combine bigstock and shutterstock under the one umbrella. Keep the 2 sale websites. Sales from Bigstock report over at Shutterstock. Only upload at shutterstock.

That probably makes too much sense and is hampered by some software programming issue.

I might just make into the 0.27 level this coming year. Wish me luck!

The question was purely to do with income at SS IF the same targets are in place there as are coming in on BS (as some of us think is on the cards).

The question is who will be making significantly less at SS when/if this happens. I am sorry if this wasn't clear in the question.

Nothing to do with additional subs income on BS or similar

oops sorry, I voted but didn't state it here, I did on another thread. On SS 38 and 38.. I would only just clear the 50000 by a hair's breadth

On BS I think it was 29c? can't remember what I came up with exactly and can't be bothered to add it up again. The only significant thing to me about the new scheme is that it could be rolled out to SS.

That's fantastic, Microbius. 50k is pretty good.  On SS I am about 14000 dl a year. I shoot piccies.

Yes, please don't give them any ideas. Oh well too late now?

At this point in your survey, about 70% of the people would make less than they do now. That would make many people unhappy, if it matters to SS? And people talk of raise but somehow your fears are very realistic considering how things have been going across the market as a whole.

Lets hope not!

edited: made a mistake, I think it's 70% not 50%?
