How much money have you made for Shutterstock? Any guesses or ballpark figures?

Do you mean how much profit or how much revenue (after deductions for marketing, 250-odd staff, rent, bandwidth, R&D, etc)?

Of course you might also ask how much money has one man's enterprise made for you? Ask not what you have done for Shutterstock but what Shutterstock has done for you.

Yes they are the best for RF sites - but , really, no business is in it to do favors for anyone. If profit margins get squeezed for the company, esp now a publicly traded one, where will the tightening take place? On the comms the contributors get - or at least the lions share of it.
Cut backs are already begun with thr referral comms being done away with. Only time will tell what takes place, but I dont expect them to behave differently when it comes to money than ANY other business

Are you for real?

Oct 0.662$, Nov 0.567$, Dec 0.604$
- 0.611$ / 2.30$ = 0.265 = 26.5%

100 - 26.5 = 73.5%

Another good question would be, if you've made $10000 yourself, how much have you made for Google? Just thinking of all that advertising. I wonder if the advertising will continue now. Could be another area to squeeze.

Exactly. It's quite likely that Google have made more profit from microstock than all the agencies and the contributors combined.

Are you for real?

Yes, I'm for real. More to the point, can you actually accept reality? Thanks to the enterprises of Livingstone, Oringer and Enache I have an enjoyable lifestyle. I work when I want, play golf when I want and get to travel a lot whilst deducting the costs from my tax bill. I have far more reasons to be grateful to them than be resentful for the money I might have made for them.

And you?

I do agree with you to a point.  I only submit to IS at the moment, so I can't comment on SS, but I'm extremely grateful to Bruce et al for giving me the opportunity to make some money doing something I enjoy and if things were still as they used to be, I'd have no issue with making them money.

However, it does bother me that the current powers that be seem to have a total lack of respect for the people who provide the content that they sell.  From that point of view, it does gall me a little that they've had over $100,000 from my 300 and odd files.

The link isn't working, but is that number for the first $10,000 when you get lower royalties or for subsequent $10,000s?  I think the question is for the first $10,000?

I've fixed it now

Yep.  It is possible to be grateful for the lifestyle that shooting stock provides,  but still be angry at sites that are cutting commissions, and going back on promises they made contributors.
