Title: In case you ever wondered why SS uses reCAPTCHA verification...
Post by: JetCityImage on June 19, 2017, 08:08
"Shutterstock employs a security code at log in to protect your account and to prevent site downtime due to malicious internet bots."

"If you do not see a reCAPTCHA code at all or receive the message 'Invalid security code. Please try again.', there may be a Trojan virus or malware on your computer. In these instances we recommend you to update your anti-virus software and further research the matter on technology blogs."

What security? Protection?
Thieves are stealing our images for free in countless ways and SS has nothing to say: https://forums.submit.shutterstock.com/topic/91181-stealing-ss-images-big-time/?do=findComment&comment=1617789 (https://forums.submit.shutterstock.com/topic/91181-stealing-ss-images-big-time/?do=findComment&comment=1617789)

I had that problem some time ago, I could not view the recaptcha code so I could not access shutterstock.
I tried connecting with a VPN as some users here in the forum suggested me and it worked immediately, so I think it is not necessarily a malware or virus if it doesn’t work.

I'd *think* SS would have something to say if they are losing revenue...

They're allowed to post videos on how to break the law?  That can't possibly be legal, can it?  Couldn't we start a class-action lawsuit against the poster for lost revenue?

The people to be angry with are Shutterstock who do nothing to plug the holes in the system and aren't taking action with regards to DMCAs and facebook/ Youtube.

It is outrageous that they are 1. so incompetent with regards to making a system that has these holes and 2. care so little about creator's intellectual property once the holes come to light.

Shutterstock cares of Shutterstock - period. :(

If I use that link I only see a small "preview" size image, not full size. Is that correct?

Apparently you can access full size images via facebook and there's another way of also getting vectors.  I haven't tried myself.

It depends on what small means to you. I downloaded one of my images and it was 1000px on the long side but I'm not sure if I used the right link (for bigger size).

I get the logic behind the use of re CAPTCHA but is it really necessary to make it so bloody difficult.
For me it is averaging 33 clicks to access Shutterstock. I am only a contributor, but given that most of Sutterstock's images are available elsewhere I would be shopping at a different agency if I were a buyer.

Just set a new "record" 53 clicks to access Shutterstock, what buyer is going to want to P...  about that long before they even get to look for what they want.

33 / 53 clicks to access SS ? Why?
I access it just with one click. I think maybe your pc is infected. There is no difficulty in accessing.

Because it takes three or four times to make it past the reCAPTCHA verification. Or to click the 15 cars.

Exactly, and then the 6 or more street signs x 4 and then the store fronts.........
