Title: Is search engine totally messed up now?
Post by: melastmohican on May 13, 2009, 10:46
It seems like my sales went down to almost zero so I started looking at how search works now and it seems to be a little weird. I tried "memorial day" and result are kind of weird. In top 10 there are 3 pictures of woman laying in the spa. There is no word "memorial" in keywords but there is word "day". Since I do not know how to make logical AND it seems like they just mixed up results from two searches for a single word but not intersection of terms I would expect.

Sales are as usual, but new images are not showing up in the search. Got them approved on monday and they are still not showing. So I am missing my weekly boost..

Yeah some memorial day results are a bit odd..

I am guessing those results come from the keyword Memory being conjugated into memorial

just the same as if someone searches for dogs, they will also get results that have just dog, or ski and skiing etc.

This does not make any sense. I was thinking that photo popularity takes predecease over keywords or maybe keywords got weights which so if "day" is very popular word it can bring photos with this word to first page.

Does anybody know if search engine supports logical AND? When I put "memorial+day" it gives completely different results. Actually less than one full page so I guess "+" is not operator or whitespace char.
