Just looking at the Shutterstock map, and there's definitely been a fall-off in North American sales.  Not completely dead, but more sparse than usual.   Thankfully Europe is actively buying, and tends to be a stronger market for me anyway, so I'm not losing too much.

Istock was lousy all weekend but my 4th July sales with DT and SS were better than an average Monday.

If that pattern holds with others, it would suggest that iS is dominant in the US/Canada market while DT and SS are selling primarily outside North America. I think we already know that Fotolia is strongest in Germany.

Yup, at SS you can see that on the map. May be partly the reason that my sales at IS are so much lower (besides all the mess they've made in the last year), I just don't shoot fake, american looking models, with blazingly white teeth. I should at least start whitening model's teeth and go with more plastic looking postprocessing (to give them more of a (inflatable) doll look) if I would want to sell more at IS. But it's not worth the time for such a low selling agency.

I know about the 4th of July, but that's on Monday. Are ppl taking vacations earlier? 'cause yanks don't be buyin' sheat ;). Europe, as always is kickin a$$, but today even south America bought more from me, I got a single DL from the USA :s

I'm having the same day today, Europe kicking ass, Asia&Australia were good in the morning (CET), Africa and Latin America got a piece of the action as well, but just one of 28 DLs so far today from the states. Are they in recession again or what? I'm seriously asking that because IS is in a slump lately as well and there's supposed to be 75% of the buyers from USA.

Well, a lot of businesses are waiting to see if we manage to raise out debt ceiling.  I don't know if that would affect downloads.

FWIW, my sales are spread across all regions, as usual.

I've got a small portfolio so I expect sporadic sales but I have seen some trends that are different from the norm for me.
SS has been strong and steady but I'm seeing more US and Central/South American sales and less from Europe which has been strong for me in the past - my last 10 on the map are heavily clustered in the US and nothing in Europe.  More OD sales than I've seen in the past too.
Dreamstime was very strong the first third of the month (with some nice credit sales too) but has stopped dead for the past week.
Fotolia was dead in the beginning, picking up the past 10 days with steady sales (but small subs).
123RF has really taken off with sales every few days, multiples on a day - just a few pennies behind IS, it's my #3 for the month so far.
IS is following it's usual odd pattern - I see a string of no-sale days followed by multiple sales on the same day, always 4 -5 days apart, never the same day of the week.  Dollar amount is less than half of last month
Got my first sale at Stockfresh too!

Exactly the same for me at DT and FT (although I had a few XXL sales in the last days), I've just made it to my first payout on FT a couple of days ago and I need less than a dollar to get my 1st payout on DT. While I'm gonna get to 36c on SS in August  :-\ . So I'm not sure if I should be happy about it. But I also didn't upload anything from Sep-Jun on DT and FT (that's most of my time in MS). I started on 123RF last month and got a 100 MB TIFF DL yesterday, which only amounts to pathetic 17.2$, but OTOH it really bumped my sales over there, which of course, are poor. SS really is making me more than all of the rest combined. Twice as much actually. I love SS :)

BTW I just got 2 more sales in Europe in the mean time (that late, it's 1 AM!) and 2 more from Mexico. Mexico is really rocking it, I got at least 4 from there (but could easily be 6 or so, it's a shame it's showing only last 10 DLs), 4x more than from USA. Keep on buying them cabrones! :)

Canada has their national day on July 1, so that is another country not at the computers for a long weekend.

Canada? Where's that? ;)

It's USA's 51st state.  :D

Seriously, then don't even have their own phone country code.

I had no idea so many people here were such twits when it comes to geography. we're only the second largest country in the world in total area. you might also want to read about country codes before making such silly statements...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Country_calling_code

Actually I am very good in geography, and I know Canada very well. Still, Canada uses the same code as USA, therefore my joke.

And since we're talking about geography, Brazil is not a Spanish-speaking country and our capital is not Buenos Aires. :D

And why SNP gets "This user is currently ignored." status, for calling us Twits and having no sense of humor.

Although Canada is the second largest country in the world, the population of only 34 million barely merits a mention on the global scale. LOL

SNP is correct that Canada has its own area codes, different from those in the US. However some internet phone companies such as MagicJack sometimes supply US area codes because either local area codes are not available or some users don't want to spend extra money to get  Canadian area codes.

I certainly wouldn't refer to Brazil as Spanish speaking, nor do I think they suddenly annexed Argentina's capital city...I don't know who did, but it wasn't me.

Anybody got anything on US sales? Nothing's changed for me, I know it's still a bit early for American buyers, but still, I got a couple of DLs from south America already.

my sales this week are messed......one good day, the rest up and down, up and down. I don't know what's going on so I'm just working and not worrying about it unless it lasts.

Oh yeah a yank was probably responsible to make this my BFE! ;D Probably because the map is not so detailed and it could be also someone from Quebec.

After an awesome July, it seems sales are slowing down, these first 3 days are rather slow. Yanks are buying though;)

To continue your education in sensitivity to world cultures, you would want to avoid referring to people from the USA as Yanks or Yankees. Here, that term refers to people from the old Union states - usually said with something less than fondness by those from the former Confederate states. As in * Yankees!

Or it's a reference to a sports team.

As an expatriate Brit who used to use that terminology when I first came here (but they didn't withhold citizenship from me because of my former gaffes), I'm just sharing. I'm not in any way offended.

Continue? When did you start? :) Not really trying to be offensive (but not trying not to be either) , I just like the term, and Brits are using it all the time and since I watch so many British TV shows I picked it up. Just like constantly making fun of Americans :D . I know lots of people here hate me for that. But I don't care ;) . If they wouldn't be so oversensitive and had a sense of humour it wouldn't come to that. They'd respond with a joke and everything would be just fine ;) .

And the worst thing of all is that we've come to that debate, when I was really saying something positive about them. They're buying, what's better than that? :) It's really a shame some (not meaning you in this case, it's ok to educate me, but this genrally happens over here) don't see the forrest for the trees .

I like the Term "Yankees" too, but if you feel offended I am sorry and will change the term to "Estadounidense" (Spanish for "Unitedstatler". Here we cannot call them "americans" since "south americans" and "central americans" don`t want to be mixed up and may feel offended :-)

I'm from the US, and the term yankee doesn't strike me as perjorative at all. But I'm in the western US and we're further disconnect from Civil War history than the east coast. We were fighting with Native Americans at the time...

And I moved here to a southern state from a northern state in the US, and let me tell you, they STILL celebrate Confederates Day down here. And when true southerners call you a Yank or Yankee, it IS intended to be a perjorative. Some folks kind of joke about it, but some are dead serious.  ::)
