Hello,
I got rejected twice from SS, but will try again soon !
I gathered some interesting info about the initial submission on different posts here, thanks all.
I have a doubt though. On one post was written that the photo for which no rejection reason was given were in fact ok.
From the evaluation, I receive a table with each photo on the left (with an id), then status ("not approved" for all of them) and for 4 images out of 10, there is an explanation of rejection on the right. Nothing for the others.
Does that mean that the ones without reason were in fact ok, or does that mean that they were so bad they shouldn't even have to bother give a reason...

No, once they've hit the magic number to decline you they don't evaluate the others.

I don't think so... Cause the first rejection had reasons for 7 photos, and the second rejection had reason for 4.

The six with no reason were good enough to be accepted.

So you're almost there  :)

Although note that the next reviewer may not definitely agree with the first that they were OK.

Cool ! Combining my two rejections, I have 8 individual photos with no remark. And they are all full rez. On my next submission, I'll downsample them to the minimum 6MP (great advice I read somewhere else), so that noise / artefact rejection are less likely.
Also I intend to shoot some isolated over white this week-end for the first time. They seem to like that.
Next submission is feb 6th. Wish me luck !!

Good stuff, but you left out...

Downsize to 2460 x 1640, it's not just a good idea, it's the lower limit.  ;)  Make your initial application photos the minimum size which will cover a few of the top ten, you have listed.

The one about change to illustrations has me confused. If I'm applying as a photographer, what would it help to submit something that takes a different application and acceptance and isn't what I do? Try illustrations?

Buy a DSLR. What? Did you just want a top ten, instead of nine? If people could afford a better camera, they would already own one.  ;D

Good list, really.

Change to illustration is quite a good advice - but of course just for those, who can do it :) - there are not such a hard requirements for illustrations, and once you are approved, you can submit just photos...

Buy a DSLR? Another good idea - if you really want to earn some money :) Photos from DSLR dont have so many problems with noice, sharpness, details etc.

Yipeee!! 9/10 were accepted on my second try... Talk about being on the edge of my seat.

The first time I tried, I uploaded some photos that I thought was cool and SS was the first that I tried. None were accepted. In fact, all of the photos were refused by all the places I tried.

After a week, I smacked myself on the forehead and decided to try what I do best illustration... These are just plain rasters.

I'm happy that I waited instead of giving up. So keep trying.

Congratulations!
At the weekend, I was accepted with 9/10 on my second try too! And on day one, I had 5 sales just with the 9 approved images online. I must have been really lucky with the reviewer I had though, because I had 6 food shots, 2 isolated object and 2 spa-stills - so not much variety.

I agree: Keep trying!
