The new percentage based scheme started today.
I just had my first June sale, a subscription for 0.36. That's been my subscription fee in May too. In the new scheme I am at level 4. That's 30% share. So 30% share is 0.36 too?
A bit surprising. How is your June sales developing?
-
Got my first sale for 0.36, too
(level 4)
-
The new scheme has unlikely to have gone live yet given SS staff are still in bed.
-
Not surprising. Trust me, they will implement it one way or another. They just delay it for a bit, let the fire calm down first, and strike it while you guys are sleeping.
Remember they implement the new vector upload method? 100% objection at their forum. They delayed it for a month or so, and implement it anyway at the end.
-
From a technical point of view there's no way you'd implement a major change to billing, selling and everything else when not everyone is there to oversee it.
You do it when all staff are available to fix the inevitable problems.
-
Yes, they simply have not implemented the change yet. All sales I got today still had the same rate as last month and if you look at the SS froum, everyone is still earning the same. I guess we all just assumed it would start on June 1st at midnight US time, but it probably won't till everyone has rolled out of bed at headquarters.
If I am not mistaken it is currently 5.38am over there, so it might still take a while.

Now would be the time to blockade the office :D

Yes but this is Microstock so I wouldn't necessarily count on them to do the obvious
-
Knowing the way shutterstock implemented software changes in the past its probably not working and stan the man is busy frantically hitting the reset button ;D

Well this is true. From an IT perspective you'd try to do it at the quickest possible time. So Saturday. You have all the staff available at the time on overtime and 2 days to fix the inevitable problems.
But payments and anything else financial with SS are always manually triggered on the next working day after a cut off date. So i wouldnt expect this to be any different.
Given the server farms and clusters they use it might even take 72 hours to filter through the network.
I wouldnt even be overly surprised if they simply "rebalance" everyone a week or two into the month.

I hope he lost that button. I'm excitedly waiting and won't upload
-
I've had two subscription sales this morning both for 0.33. :)
-
Or perhaps the new earning scheme will apply only to new subscription made from June 1st on.
-
Of course the hard reset on royalty percentages doesn't occur until Jan 1st 2021 so most likely you will be on your exisiting level from June 1st

Thats not what has been said we are on our new %age levels. I'm expecting SS to update the amounts when they get round to it or in my wildest dreams a last minute rethink of the scheme with the CEO's head in a basket.
-
They haven't updated the "Earnings Breakdown" page either.
-
On SS message board, they are saying that the changes will go live this afternoon New York time.
-
Implementing things with an uncertain amount of delay could be a good strategy the confused the masses armed with pitchforks, trying to be organized for a boycott

People here waiting for the new scheme to take effect... why? Why haven't you disabled your portfolio alredy, nothing good will follow of this.

Maybe because at this point in time, some people simply cant afford to lose hundreds or thousands of dollars just to make a point...
-
This is the beginning of the end.

Do you know how much time does it take them to turn off my images after disabling them? I disabled everything, and since then I don't have sales, but my port is still online. I wouldn't want to think they are fine with selling a couple of more and keeping it for themselves...
-
This is the beginning of the end.
Or maybe the end of the beginning?
-
When people switch off their ports SS seems also to completely delete assets from their portfolio manager. I switched off my video port and noticed through the day (yesterday) items being deleted from my video portfolio...until zero left in my video portfolio

They better start preparing to be able to afford it cause the loss coming, slowly and painfully.
And the consequences of SS reduced royalties can be expected to be matched by competition in future for sure.

No they are still on the servers if you turn on sales they will come back over 72 hours

Hopefully they're saving you the trouble of having to do it yourself.

I do hear and understand that. It was a tough decision, I have earned about $100,000 Shutterstock (which have probably earned THEM half a million). But the line has to be drawn somewhere, and now they went too far, I had to stand behind my principles.

Secondhand news is that the new structure goes live at noon, eastern time. Take with a grain of salt...

Nobody sensible is going to want to voluntarily throw away a few hundred or thousand dollars with 5 days notice. Most people will keep the plan until they've sorted out an alternative.
Id venture the low earners are the people who could most likely afford to disable stuff as its a small percentage of their income.
I also suspect lots will just accept SS has become just another mid-grade agency like IS and leave the profile.
SS would no doubt have modelled this.

I had another subscription sale at 14:30 GMT for $0.33.
Just read "The new royalty structure will go live this afternoon, New York time." Kate Shutterstock.

I didn't knew Kill Bill: Vol. 3 was directed by shutterstock.
