Since they're destroying our livelihood, let's take their online reputation down a few notches. I've complied a list of sites where you can file a report against company or leave a review.

Better Business Bureau

Review Websites

I don't recommend using your real account for comments on social media. They may be able to trace it back to you and disable your account. But we shouldn't let up. Let's leave reviews on all these websites and hammer their social media.

It would be great is someone knew blogs, websites, magazines that graphic designers and marketing companies read. And get them to write articles.

I don't know any of such. So far my small contribution to the matter was telling 3 graphic designer friends to consider using some other service at their companies if they can.

Their trustpilot *from customers* is atrocious.

But realistically the only way is to talk to the buyers.  Commenting on their own FB etc will do nothing.  They expect it, theyre ready for it and they're already deleting posts as fast as they can.  You need to g direct to the buyers.

And yes, use TOR and other anonymous tools - they ARE actively culling accounts of people who speak out (and it seems keeping the earnings).

And how do we reach a large percentage of the roughly 200k contributors? Maybe 5000-6000 are aware today. If 100k were aware (or more) and willing to deactivate ports THAT would impact both the 330m images and also buyers. To me the way we control SS is thru content because WE own that part of their business. Some contributors who dont follow MSG or SS forums or SS FB will recognize a drop in income and perhaps become curious as to why and do some homework. But a lot really never understand what happened unless we can reach them.

Has the game changed from forcing Shutterstock to the negotiating table to damaging their reputation and bussiness and moving on to pastures new. I am all for moving on and hope the buyers follow, but many here would prefer the former choice.  This kind of destruction instead of uniting us puts us in two camps.

The way to hurt them is to contact design agencies and ask them to stop using shutterstock.
Tell every designer you know.

Also pressure companies that have partnerships with them.
These are a few that are listed on shutterstock website.

Great idea specially if you are a shareholder of one of these companies! It is a shame to work with Shitstock.

I don't think it is splitting us at all. I am all for trying to get a better deal. But the sad fact is that they absolutely will not move on this without some serious pressure. This is that pressure.

They are a publicly traded company. They literally must, by law, act only in the interest of their shareholders. The only way they can/ will give us a better deal is if it is made clear that their share price will suffer if they don't. That is all there is to it.

If you we nothing, then this earning schedule will become permanent. We obviously don't want them to go under. We want them to survive, but we also want a better share of the revenue.

If we start attacking their reputation online, put pressure on them, there's a chance they may increase the percentages for the entire table. That's what I'm hoping for, but to give up and allow to the get away with it is going hurt everyone in the long run.

It could be interesting to contact the specialized press, both print and web, the press that advertising agencies and creatives read. Maybe also the business press.
If someone feels able to write a very good article in English I would be happy to translate it into French and Italian.
I'm sure others will make it their duty to translate it into other languages.
The question is to know who to send the article to...

I'd agree.  Complaining about SS from the contributor side of things is very unlikely to accomplish anything.  They'd have planned and factored this in.

The only way to actually make a point is hit the company *customer* side and stock price side.  That is the only bit thats important to them.

If contributors go, to them no problem.  There are plenty more.

If BUYERS start to go thats different.

So a campaign to communicate the issues to current and potential buyers and customers is likely to be more effective than anything contributor side.

Of course, most buyers dont think of or care about contributors.  They just want the right image at lowest possible price so its hard.

Very correct, if Adobe has an Exclusive collection this will help the most, Exclusive Editorial would be a huge help as well. Buyers will want the latest and best. Price will be secondary if it can't be purchased anywhere else!

Of course, most buyers dont think of or care about contributors.  They just want the right image at lowest possible price so its hard.

Can't really blame the customers. Everyone would buy the best quality at the lowest possible price. Up to contributors to make sure that those "right" images are not available on agencies that treat their contributors as trash. Also very hard, because meanwhile SS's database has 325 million images, covering different varieties of any commercially relevant topic. They can survive on this for the next coming months In addition, there will always be contributors willing to sell out for 10$c, or even for free (looking at Unsplash for instance) and SS will make sure that newer trends are covered by image mills offering them different deals or incentives.

So yeah, it's hard.

Up to us to adjust, because SS is determined and as I said before: don't think they didn't think this through and didn't calculate the risk.
There's still a market for certain niches, editorials and content that studio image mills or mass production contributors are not able to create.
Don't give it to SS, but put them on agencies that treat you fair. Customers who really need the image will follow.
