He’s so excited to be screwing over his contributors! Yay for him.
-
Thanks it makes me feel good to leave an honest reply!!
-
The only thing I would say to Jon boy is
F*ck you and the horse you rode in on ;D
The guy is truly an idiot
-
Funny how he started off trying to deflect the cuts and now he just gave up. Facts simply do not support his garbage claim...insinuating that they added a higher tier. Very few will make that and then there is the annual reset. He truly is a disgusting person. I say that because now we know he supports Stan's move.
-
When one top level contributer mention earnings drop, Oringer said it “might be some seasonality playing in there”.
I thought horseshit only came out of a horses arse
-
So either he is flat out lying about how the new earning structure works (ie you only get the 10 cent sales for the " first 100 downloads", which we all know is bullcrap) OR he literally doesn't understand his own companies new earning structure. It's one or the other. Liar or idiot.
-
What in the world is he talking about?
"you can focus on the first 100 downloads (ie: the 10 cents per dl) for the year (...) or making a lot more at the top levels"
I've gotten more than 100 downloads since the new payment structure was introduced and I am not a lower level contributor.
And what am I supposed to focus on now? The next 1.000 10 cent downloads? Because that's all I am getting. I am certainly not making a lot more. I am making a lot less.
I agree that this guy is either simply lying or does honestly not understand how SS works.

He better resorts to the AI of his new toy because human content providers will not trust this man anymore in the future.
-
I understand the anger and frustration. He is laughing at out faces or just playing games. But the question remain. Hitting the take it or leave it wall what remains? I still see big ports up, i see new content, i see good content. Then i visit MSG and i believe again that SS life is a matter of few months until Jan 2021.
Well, someone have to ask ::)
Now What?
-
Well ever since the company going public it was bound to happen and a few of us " oldtimers" didnt trust him at all but of course most newcomers thought he was the best since sliced bread!
Oringer has only got money! nothing else nothing more!
-
I think this is funny. I wanted to know about Vitrina.
Vitrina
Vitrina is genus of small air-breathing land snails, terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusks in the family Vitrinidae, the glass snails.Wikipedia

What do you think about this Mr Rinder, about what SS has done?
You plan to continue supporting them as an artist?

This poor guy is hurting so badly.......
No, this guy could not care less whether 10 million images are missing from the database, because he still has 320 million images left.
As I said multiple times, but no one wants to hear that and I am 'being negative'. No, I am being realistic.
They made sure that they make so much more extra profit without any extra work now, that even a major loss of sales will still make them come out with a bigger profit than before.
At this point my earnings are down by around 50% compared to last month and looking at the SS forum, others seem to be al a loss of at least 20-30%. This means, even if SS lost 30% of all content and EVEN IF we assumed that they lost 30% of sales along with it (which is not going to happen. If a customer can't find one image of an apple in the database, because it has been taken off, he will just buy a different image and not necessairly go to another platform, especially not people who have a yearly subscription and can't just go somewhere else. SS still has the biggest database to offer. Yes, there are some who will look for very specific images and might search somewhere else if they can't find what they are looking for on SS, but these will be a minor part of customers), that would have to mean that 30% of the database would have to go, so 96 million images would need to disappear from the database, before SS would...come out with the same profit than before instead of more and that only assuming that every image gone represents a sale gone, which we all know is not the case.
So, if losing over 90 million images in the database would not scratch them, how do people really believe that the 5 millions images less in the database compared to last month will have any impact at all?
This guy really means it: He could not care less whether 1 or 20 million contributors take off their content. SS is making more profit than before, what they did had the desired effect. For now.
I still hope that word will spread further around and more customers will start to shop for their images at other places eventually. At this point that's really the only thing that could reduce SS's profit.
It is, unfortunately, like very often, mostly in the hands of customers. It reminds me about a debate about meat production in Germany, where some politicans say that we don't need any additional laws and regulations, because it was "in the hands of the customers" to make sure that animals are treated fairly and workers payed fairly because they could decide to buy more expensive meat if they wanted to...which we all know is not what the majority does. Only that in this case, other agencies are not necessarily more expensive. Adobe's biggest pack is cheaper than SS's for example, so maybe there is still hope.
(Btw. It pisses me totally of when that guy wrote "think the world is getting easier for us?" You're, what, a fu***** milionaire? The world is easy for you, and even if it becomes more difficult for you, it will only mean you might not be able to afford 10 cars compared to the single mother of two who struggles to pay for food because you reduced her income by 30% or more)
-
I was being sarcastic by the way, see my posts on Twitter :) And it's the same as Farmers Milk Production in the UK
-
Is was being sarcastic by the way, see my posts on Twitter :)
Oops, sorry, now I have embarassed myself.
Sorry, sarcasm is hard to grasp over the internet sometimes and there are really a lot of contributors who seem to think SS staff is currently curling up in balls and crying because their 320.000.000 image database has 5 million imags less than last month.
-
No worries firn, yes it is lol, but really I have been so vocal on this on Twitter, I left SS when they introduced the new low sub plan for video back in April, but I understand what devastating effects it can have as a whole on the rest of the stock industry. I pointed this fact out when I announced I was leaving on the SS forum way back then, so I plead with everyone here also, make your point on any social media platform because other sites are watching and waiting to see the true effects of this SS storm :)
The more responses we get like this from @jonoringer the bigger the grave he digs for himself, that post above from Twitter has been deleted since by him :)

Apparently! Looks like his cousin is the smart one!
Sorry old man but you kept telling everyone you don’t need the money yet you continue to support them making 0,10c? What gives?
You have the right to do whatever you want obviously but I thought you would be amongst the first to disable your portfolio.
For some you have been an annoyance but for many others you have been an inspiration and teacher.
Is this the example you want to set for your followers?
Alright take care Laurin!

Strange world.
Photo factories like Africa Studio left SS but "good old time" gurus stay for 10cts.

I know what you mean! only I wouldnt do the same misstake twice. Worst is I got a few guys to join in 2005 and they became and still is gigantic contributors. I badly regret that! I regret ever believing in this cretin!

This poor guy is hurting so badly......
He is a pompous ass. He may be a billionnaire and have all the money in the world, but he's a horrible and immature person. Instead of properly addressing concerns and showing some understanding, he chooses to attack contributors and chase them away. He's the prime example of the rich elite who takes a dump on the little people who made his business. What a sad little man.

Yep, have you seen his replies to contributors on Twitter? He really is living in an alternate reality! Now he is trying to get young entrepreneurs to use him as some kind of business guru, no shame.
-
I've looked at my earnings at approximately 1000 dls and 2000 dls this month and my take is like 30% less than before.
I've sold approx. 15% more images (DLs) than the previous month at this point.
And to make the situation even worse, this includes $30 to $70 range single and enhanced sales I got in June. Without them it would be even worse.
Shutterstock took the rest. At six days notice.
Mr. Oringer probably hired a dirty-agenda CEO because he didn't want to do this himself.
The top contributors at Shutterstock are all subscription sales optimized creators. They all are hurt by this change.
Shutterstock, you never had enough OD sales going to make up for our lost revenue to begin with.
Your OD packages are not attractive, because you don't want them to be. (because if OD becomes popular it will permanently hurt subscription sales)
If OD sales were so great, why in the world would you change it so we get more percentage on OD sales. That answers everything.
You're trying to make your contributors think they need to make one of a kind OD quality images to make money like before. In the end you're gonna sell it all for $0.10. Shady business that is.
So, I understand he feels like 2003 again.
Starting to see profits come in like if it was 2003 again.?

I wish it was 2003.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Or 1803, when for 10 cents you could have a lunch in a fancy restaurant...

Indeed, and I regard it as a Badge of Honour.
-
Haha, he blocked me too. It's good to know that my post agitated him so much he had to block me out of frustration. Feels like a victory of sorts, albeit a small one.
-
It won't help with deleted tweets (such as the take your content & go one) but for those of us who are blocked, it's easy to see his tweets (can't interact with him though)
Go to twitter.com in a Google incognito window or log out of your own twitter account. You can then browse everything & take screenshots (or whatever).
He has also deleted his LinkedIn profile (yesterday I think). Can't imagine how he thinks this will play out.
One of the Glassdoor reviews of him called him a man-child. Another said "CEO shouldn't be allowed to lead a lemonade stand. A public company is so far beyond him it's frightening."
-
I'm really not at all au fait with Twitter, but it seems that several people have retweeted one of my tweets in reply to his original one after he blocked me. 8) (Presumably blocking someone doesn't delete their posts?) He's really on the back foot.
Man-child?
He's sounding more and more like the US president. ::)
-
With those replays he is just showing that he is definitely loosing it and that the pressure we put is definitely worth it.

Oringer and Pavlovsky both.
-

Correct. If you want to see his tweets, log out of twitter in a web browser (or bring up a Chrome Incognito window so you don't have to do that) and search for Jon Oringer. You can't interact with him, but can read.
An account can hide replies - typically done when people get R rated or swear or accuse them of crimes - but you can see those after the "warning" message.
If someone delete's a reply or tweet of their own, I think all the children of that thread go too
-
He has an Instagram too.

Funny. I left him a "GLOWING" review on Linkedin.
-
Wow, he deleted his LinkedIn account? Chairman of a billion dollar company? He is really self destructing his reputation. Amazing Stan Pavlovsky effect. Disruptive indeed.(yes, I saw the youtube clip)
-

No, it's still there, but you can't see it if you're logged in.
In a Chrome incognito window you can view his page just fine.
I didn't realize all the privacy settings LinkedIn offered. He could turn off access to the non-logged-in world, but that would render the whole thing a bit pointless :)
Same applies to his twitter account by the way (if you're blocked by him, as I am)
-
Thanks. I got the situation. They've probably become experts on the privacy setting by now.. ;D
-

lol. I think he just blocked you Jo Ann. I still see him on linkedin.

Other people mentioned him deleting his portfolio on LinkedIn too, so there's some set of those he doesn't want to see him. A bit like the toddler with hands over eyes thinking the world has disappeared just because they can't see it :)
-
Funny how he started off trying to deflect the cuts and now he just gave up. Facts simply do not support his garbage claim...insinuating that they added a higher tier. Very few will make that and then there is the annual reset. He truly is a disgusting person. I say that because now we know he supports Stan's move.
Nobody will believe his lies, the numbers don't lie. I'm down over 50% first month, his math is a lie.
