Edit: the 100 responses limit for the free version has been reached. There is no point in collecting responses anymore.
The only solution for a more statistical relevant analysis is to use a subscription based surveymonkey account.
Since this website's poll system doesn't allow multiple responses from the same user, I closed the previous EL royalty poll, and as advised by Leaf, I created a new one on Surveymonkey.
This new poll allows multiple responses from the same user and it has a more accurate overview, in a matrix format, with royalty brackets for each tier (see attached).
Please follow this link, and cast your vote each time you sell an EL (+ opt-out).
Mark all the ELs you got since the change was implemented.
Those who voted in the previous one, please do it again here.
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/H657G6V (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/H657G6V)
I'll publish the results as regularly as possible.

Oh, 3 ELs from top teir with less than $18 royalties. Definitely something to worry about :(

Although this sort of survey is pretty interesting it does have a flaw. What it doesn't (can't) capture is whether there has been an increase in income from ELs.
Even if someone compares their average number of ELs over the past period (month, year etc.) to what they get now they actually have no way of knowing how many ELs they would have sold during the period since the new EL structure was introduced.
I think that alot of people would take (for example) 20 ELs at $20 than 10 at $28. But there is no real way of determining if that is actually happening.
Again, interesting survey. Thanks for putting it up and keeping it updated.
Cheers.

People who've opted in can always post here whether their EL sales have increased in number over this time last year and whether EL earnings have increased or decreased for them. But that will take time.

Market conditions from last year aren't the same as conditions for this year. So that comparison is only approximate. There is no way to know what you could have made if the changes hadn't been made.
Having said that, if the differences are really severe then you can make a bit more of the comparison.

With 43 respondents:
Interesting to observe that mainly Top tier announced EL sales: 38 vs 3, 3, 2.
Maybe because statistically Top tier contributors have larger ports and the chances to score ELs are higher? Or because the majority on this forum are top tier users? Too soon to tell after only 1 day.
I'm also surprised to see only 8 votes for opt-out!

Apparently the average would be something around $ 23-24 for the highest level.
Meaning 14-18% less revenue for each EL. I doubt the alleged increase in sales will make up for it.

I'd agree that the sales increase needs to make up for the lower pay or this makes nothing change. I don't get many so people who have last years total EL can look at the same period and see if there is an increase in EL # or if it's the same and we just make less. Time will tell.
-
93 respondents. 11 reported more than 1 EL during these ~4 days.
14 opt-out (14% of respondents out of which 50% are top tier)
74% of the total ELs are announced by top tier contributors.
So far, with 90% confidence, we can say that the average EL royalty for top tier is <$24.7 +/- $0.8

It will be interesting to see, say in another month or two, whether the overall amount of ELs received by each contributor has increased.

I'm afraid I will have to close this survey since we reached the upper limit for the free option (100 respondents) :(
MAXIMUM RESPONSE LIMIT: You have reached your limit of 100 survey responses. To see all 105 responses, upgrade to any pro plan
If this is interesting, maybe someone who already has a surveymonkey subscription could re-do it and even improved it.
We have 105 respondents, but only the first 100 are visible. Therefore, the final results are below. Check my previous post for some conclusions.

Just had my first EL download for the year. Pretty disappointing number. It looks like it came from a 25-EL pack.

A price cut can bring it further down.

I have now had more than 10 ELs this year and the price has been sliding badly, I guess as they offer more and more discounts. The last two were shockingly low.
I am seeing slightly more ELs this February than the last two, but I don't think I have enough information yet to be sure if volume is increasing.

$17.88 today. Lost out on more than $10.
-
$24.20 :-X

Another one this month. $22.85.
I'll say this much, I had a total of 5 ELs last year and I have 2 in February so far.
-
$30, i am at 30%
-
Had a EL today for $24.87 and ironically the Image is a very Old Isolated Penny. LOL
-
One this month: $112.86
-
that is not an EL that is a SOD
-
19,04 $ yesterday. Almost 10 Dollar less :-(

similar pattern to what I've seen this month

Since opting out I had one request for $16. I told them to come back when it's $28+.

Guys, I am still receiving, every day, notifications about new responses.
So far, there are 170 responses. Maybe I was not properly understood: the last 70 responses went into a black hole, because the free version only allows stats up to 100 responses.
Unless someone subscribes to Surveymonkey, 100 answers is the max we can analyse.
-
one today, iam at 30%, 26.72$
-
Wonder why each one seems to be less than the last? Last one also sub $20
Guess they are getting more and more enthusiastic with the discounts already.
-
$24,13, 30%

I think it is likely that new responses are from people new to this thread, as they would see the link to the survey and respond to the survey before reading this thread further. Might be an idea to update your opening post to say the survey limit of 100 responses has been reached.

Just had a $28.00 download. I can't tell if it's an EL or SOD since I'm currently in a foreign country and SS is blocked here (explains why I rarely get downloads from here). It's just strange that it's exactly $28.00, which is the old EL price.
Anyway, that makes 3 for the month of February, compared to a total of 5 for last year.

$16.8 for top tier! Ha, ha! This makes the price of that EL like what? $56.2?
Besides, it has been purchased from Germany, a top tier country!
Way to go and undercut my 100 credits ELs from Fotolia!

Well, tbh, you are the one who is undercutting yourself. SS has an opt-out option, so you can enjoy selling ELs on Fotolia and not worry.

The problem is that, now, with $79.99, Adobe is also undercutting my 100 credits ELs from Fotolia ...
.... and they also undercut SS, since the poll shows $24.7 +/- $0.8 royalty per EL, which translates in $82.33 +/- $2.6 cost per EL (with 90% confidence)

That was my firsth thought when I read the announcement. I set my EL prices at 100 on FT yet they sell at 79.99 on AS. Its a bid dodgy from AS from my point of view.

I am sure it has been discussed here before, but where do I set the EL prices on Fotolia? I've looked around and don't see where that is. I see a place in indexing where you can set XS price and X price (30-100). Is the X price the extended license price?
-
Is the X price the extended license price?
Yes.

Yes.
Thanks!

I told FT today If they were smart. Is to offer 50% On EL's They cost them Nothing Just Like SS. they can afford 50%. Make a stand and a statement to US.
-
Today one $25.50 and another one $29.70, so it's possible in long term this move to become positive. I think this will be clear when we compare not ELs, but the amounts of them for 2015 and 2016.
-
Since opting out I had one request for $16. I told them to come back when it's $28+.
May I ask if you got any feedback from SS?
I just had an email telling me that I'm opted out of sensitive (which is not true - I opted out only of EL) and client wants to buy it (sensitive) immediately for the $22 (pfff). Of course I told them to come back when/ if they change their thinking and treating... After 8 years with them I DO expect more respect. What they do* is nothing but a distasteful joke...
* Cost of our living is higher and higer every year, after 8 yrs of supporting the agency I get the new "exciting news" with pricing cut during SS enjoys the new office. They even can't give me clear info if it is SoD or EL.
Yes, I'm mad and disappointed...

A lot of SODs will be sold with an EL license so opting out of ELs effectively opts you out of a lot of higher paying SODs, hence the reason they would need to get in touch with you. Since ELs are being discounted and SODs are sold by the Enterprise Team for whatever price and terms they want, there is no way of knowing if you would be getting more or less for an EL sold as a SOD, but $22 doesn't look too good for potentially broader licensing rights.
-
I just got an EL for 29.85.
-
highest I got was 30 and lowest I got was 17.40

As I mentioned in another thread, I opted out of ELs after the royalty change and earlier had turned down customer support when they offered to process a $22 EL for me.
Today I received another e-mail from support, but this was for $40 royalty, so I said that was fine to process (I'm still opted out; they just process one sale). I then got an e-mail saying the customer wanted another image as well, same $40.
So this seems to work OK for me: if it's below $28 the answer is no; if it's $28 or higher I'll let the sale go ahead. I might miss out on some if a customer doesn't want to bother contacting SS to ask, but I'm OK with that.
-
I opted out in late January when many of us did, I opted back in some time in February (yes, I'm sorry I gave up) but never seen an EL nor a big single since then..
Some were reporting more ELs after SS dropped the fixed commission, wondering how it is with ELs these days..
-

It's good to hear that support still contacts contributors if an EL is requested by the customer. That way you can indeed decide whether or not to accept an offer.
I thought the option to buy EL's would be removed completely when I opted out.

I'm doing this strategy as well! I wait for an email and see if it is worth it. I'm still opted out of EL's. I want to make a point that they cannot keep lowering our earnings.
