I managed to get into shutterstock today after passing the initial test. I want to upload the rest of my portfolio but i'm scared that if i get too many rejections they'll kick me out.

Does this sort of thing happen?

Is there any penalty for getting a lot of image rejections?

It only happens if you submit a bunch of OOF images and a few other things will get you a warning while others will get you banned for awhile and some banned for much longer.

They will give you warning regarding it.
Also if you are resubmitting the same (or same type) images again and again then they'll surely give you warning for it. And I guess maximum of 5 warnings given before the account suspension unless and until you do something really against the rule.

Its better to study and see the quality of work they require now.

Don't worry too much about it.  Rejections are part of the process.  As long as you aren't violating the rules, you'll be fine.  Just don't submit someone else's work, and don't resubmit rejected images unless you've reworked them enough to overcome the reason for the initial rejection.  A comment to the reviewer on resubmitting can't hurt, although I don't always do that.

Very worrying indeed!  they will throw you out, flat on your asss,  file a law-suit, inform the FBI and the CIA, even CTU,  about your crime. You might even get Jack Bauer come looking for you. ;D

Keroro, if you're really worried, you could try staggering your uploads.  Send one batch, monitor the feedback you get and use that information to guide your decisions for the next batch.

That was what I was going to suggest too. Upload a few at a time then you can get some feedback as you go along as what is acceptable.

Dont listen to him ;-)
Please take this advice: download a software called Jack Daniels from the closest shop, use it and enjoy. SS will warn you if the 'percentage' is too high ;-)

With Jack Daniels, the percentage will for sure be too high. I tried that actually and, oh boy, it was pretty hard to see or upload anything after that. However, it workerd far better then the other software, Jim Beam.

it has not been heard of that people were kicked out for submitting bad pictures.
I think its a leftover from the old days, when microstock started.
The reviewers will take their toll, but you should really be unwilling to improve to be kicked out.
I have not heard of it.

IF you get a warning, you should pay attention to it.

Thats right, improvement is the word, thats what they like to see!

Heck!  you cant have every Tom, Dick and Harry, pimps, ponses and panders coming waltzing in here, thinking they are photographers!  where is the proof? ofcourse they want to see improvement. What else? show me yours and I show you mine,  doesnt help here either.

This is a photography society, not some half asssed porn cinema with a goggle-eyed dickibirdy sitting cutting tickets. :)
