as you can see here:
https://www.macrotrends.net/stocks/charts/SSTK/shutterstock/net-income

from December 2017 they are increasing a lot the net income, after 2017 in loss (YoY in red)

just hope they will balance better our revenue in 2019 to return at the 2016 level.

I've doubled my portfolio in one and half years and I earn the same monthly money :(

I suggest you all in invest in SS shares :)
SS shares are doing quite badly at present ;-). They are not growing fast enough to meet investor expectations. However they are also not experiencing some massive crash in income/performance that some have been "seeing" for about the last five years or so.

^^  Yes! but alive for tens of thousands of noobs and weekend snappers....There is absolutely no doubt that SS is finished as far as serious photography and earning money.
The heydays of Jon are long gone, the once so helpful and knowledgable Admin is replaced by suits and city-twatts knowing absolutely nothing about the creative world and even less about photography!but they are under the severe preassure of constantlly having to produce results for their shareholders no matter what.

I know so many people with ports of 20,30,40000 files in their portfolios and EVERY single one of them is down a staggering 70% and have been for over a year now!

The once so hailed and praised do good agency is today nothing more then a flea market ( people here thats been with them for 8 years or more know exactly what Im talking about)

Yeah and these weekend snappers will never reach payout as they'll get buried after a few sales... meaning that SS will get to keep the money  8)

Exactly!!  wonder how many millions they get from that alone, showing a good turnover!....all parts of the agenda of course!

Something is really wrong for me with SS.  I am at $100 for November. I should be at three times that minimum based on my trend.  At this rate I will end the month at $300, which is 50% less than the last few months and 70% less than my multi year usual of $800-$900 per month.

All days are crappy crappy crappy. Weekends, weekdays all the same. They should rename it junkstock now. Utter garbage.

Delete some images!  wait a week and then re-upload them!  you're going to see some sales I bet!

Isn't that the best way to have his account closed fast?

The past few months my SS income has been very fluctuating.

July and August were better than average, which is unusual for the summermonths. Then came September that was the worst since August 2016, followed by October that was BME by a large margin. November is very calm, and it could end up like my September.

Sometimes I wonder if there is a backlog in sales reporting, so that sales that were not reported during one month or several months, sudenly gets reported in a following month.

The app keeps crashing, anyone else seeing this?

Yes. Was working fine yesterday. Last App update was Nov 2nd so I assume they've busted something on the server end versus a bug in the app itself.

Seems to be working iPhone, shows my latest approved this morning. Maybe I was lucky and didn't get the update?  ;)

A friend and very established lifestyle and fashion photographer asked me yesterday if it was worth joining SS with some 3000 files!  I said forget it!  go to Adobe/Ft, he will!

Funny but just over a year back one would undoubtly have recommended SS!...not now though, chanses are the guy comes back at YOU!

the same trend for me: July and August good and September 2018 less than usual, but September 2018 has only 30 days with 5 full weekends, so 10 days of low sales by default!
And September was a holiday month for many customers in the world.

For me SS is very linear since years for pictures and very variable for videos.

I would never suggest to a friend of mine to join microstock market if he has any other way to gain money with photography.
In the time he will take keywording 3000 files he can make a lot of photographic services in the real world and earn much more money.

3000 pictures will stop to sell in a few months, stock photography has not a big lifespan as some years ago.
(and Fotolia rejects 50% of files usually, so count 1500)

Well he does shoot commissions and lots of it!  but these are pics just sort of sitting there on the HD, typical lifestyle with good looking models, hes really a fashin photographer!

cheers!

Bye bye SS sales. Thanks for trashing my income by letting in all the junk from people who can just about operate a shutter, let alone compose an image. Thanks for making a mockery of all the people who have worked hard at composing, editing and earning the right to be accepted for years into the catalogue. Thank you for making an utter pig's ear of the whole site, your poor security allowing easy theft of images.

Thank you so much for nothing. >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

I think my income limit cap just kicked in, I can't see my photos anyplace in the search, when I do I'm past page 20, no sales. Adobe will pass SS in 2019.

It's so depressingly predictable. Capped capped capped every day around $0.72 - $1.08 despite beefing up keywords, adding more images. Talk about a totalitarian agency.

Yes agree ( Im also an "old-timer")..but why do you keep adding pictures when nothing sell!...surely you can not believe that crap they say " keep uploading, keep uploading " is going to lead to anything or increase sales???....thats just the slogan they use to keep people on their toes, adding more assets!  thats all! fooling new comers etc, etc. :)

You think that's bad?

I'm planning to heat the house with my LED video lights this winter.

My sales have fallen off the proverbial cliff so far  this month. Luckily adobe and Alamy have done well so can carry on fattening the xmas turkey ;-).

Absolutely. Its redicolous. And  they cant even operate a shutter - they only just about know how to push the right button on a smartphone! There is tons and tons of that shi* coming in like a tide wave at Shutterstock with awkward underexposed images.

Another predictably crap, capped, controlled  $0.72 day at SS

How much do you expect to make from snapshots of old junk, lemurs, walls, alleys, doors and going for a walk with a camera. You need to take pictures of subjects that buyers will buy. You take nice pictures, but they aren't something that will get many downloads. That's the cap

Do your subjects look anything like these best sellers? https://contributor.stock.adobe.com/en/insights/best/contributors

Here we go again. Because my images sold MUCH BETTER (around $200 a month of which was ok for the subject matter I took) than they do now. Granted I dont shoot higly commercial stuff with models (not my thing as I find it more interesting to happen upon images by walking about) but You would be surprised what has actually sold for me. And my images are not limited to "old junk, lemurs, walls, alleys, doors" (which actually have sold well) There is a market for ANY photo taken well enough.

I apologize, I believed what you have wrote here in the past.

Still absolutely dire. Really really awful sales. I am on target to earn the lowest amount in nearly 2 years. I have pretty much written Istock off as they have basically destroyed most of what was good about them.
The only thing that has died are my sales which are now even worse. Why did I listen to all the SS evangelists here !  ???
I have waited a year to give my thoughts on SS and leaving IS exclusivity. I would say for me it hasn't been worth it. I have lost around $100 a month. I make around a dollar a day at SS and many rejections so my full portfolio (including ONES THAT SELL at IS) are not included.

Even with IS having a terrible year it would have been better to stick with them but I suppose you have to take risks. My thoughts on SS are very very disappointing to say the least. This month one of the worst. Others will probably probably disagree.

A dollar a day isn't $200 a month.

SS is now abysmal for sales. Why it is the top rated here I do not know. IS earning me much more now.
