Title: Opt-Out. How to?
Post by: FritzFox on October 11, 2013, 06:48
Hi,
what happens if you opt in / opt-out like that?

Shutterstock :      Opt Out
Enhanced License :      Opt In
Footage Sales :      Opt In
Footage Subscription Sales :    Opt Out

I would say it means you aren't selling photos/illustrations/vectors, having opt in on EL won't do a thing

pretty much you will be selling footage and only on credit sales

if "shutterstock 1st option" means all types of sales you are opt out automatically for the other options, try it yourself and see how it goes

If the three last "Opts" would be dependancies of the first one it should b showed in a different way.
Any competent coder would show a dependency like that:
If Shutterstock : Opt Out --> nothing to Opt anymore

lets wait..
maybe someone has some experience with that.

SS opt out is deactivating your whole portfolio.

The logic is perfect.
'Opt out of Shutterstock' would seem that you want to opt out (all of your files) from SS.
Clear and simple.

It's a low-cost subs site, in general, and they don't pretend to be anything else, though there are higher value sales available.
Take it or leave it, all in or all out. You can't cherry pick and that was the deal when you signed up.

You are wrong!

Think again.
Have it your way.
I was speaking linguistically (English language).
Opting out means choosing not to be part of something.
Ergo (if you must) Opting out of SS means choosing not to belong there.

It's also true that SS is basically a subs site and they made no indication that you  could opt out of selling low-cost subs.
If you don't like it, you 'opt out'.

Clue: if they wanted to give you the choice of not selling subs, they'd say:
Subscriptions: Opt Out.
They don't.

Girls...

example:
Do not sell anything   [ticked]
--yes, do sell blue images  [still possible to tick]
--yes, do sell red images   [still possible to tick]
--yes, do sell footage        [still possible to tick]

If this contructon (and that is what you find at SS) does make any sense to you, any further discussion with you does not make any sense to me.

it doesn't make any sense but I believe Sue was clear enough and you just want to have a fight, SS needs to review this matter but in fact its not a big deal

don't know what you mean by girls but I believe you need to step back and relax dude

I am relaxed.
What i mean with "girls"?
Very simple:
It does not often make sense to discuss logic stuff with girls.
cleared?

btw:

I understand your doubts, and contrarily to others users answering you I think that you are not completely wrong, as you can have different interpretations of what is "logic"

But in no way this allow you to offend people (of any sex, color or religion)

So, please …

With all the things you donīt seem to like about SS - have you considered going exclusive with istock? You get the chance of having your files picked for higher collections like S+ and Getty and if your portfolio is interesting enough, maybe even can apply directly to Getty.

Microstock is not for everyone. istock is more dedicated to being a midstock site and as an exclusive your files will not be ported to their subscription sites.

And you wouldnīt have to worry about what SS does anymore. If you donīt feel comfortable with an agency or donīt trust them, donīt work with them.

We all have lots of choices.
