Hi all,
does anybody know if shutterstock uploader can read metadata (title and keywords) from the uploaded file?
I did some tests today with some of my file and it doesn't seem to work.

Is there any trick to let the uploader read the data?

Thanks in advance :)
M.

Why don't you try and get the answer yourself?

I give a try and it didn't work.
Same file on FT came with keywords populated in submit form... that is the reason because I asked the question...

Shutterstock uploader does parse metadata correctly.
Just make sure your file has metadata in all standards (EXIF, IPTC, XMP) to make sure all agencies parse it.

Just took another test - seems that the file is completely ignored now... Really strange hope it's a temporary issue...

Sometimes it takes a long time for the file to appear in unfinished list.
Give it some time and it'll eventually appear.

I'd agree that mr is having a problem because of the way the data is being saved or where it's placed. I find that XMP works best (BreezeBrowser Pro) but SS used to read keywords added with legacy IPTC like something as simple as Irfanview.

I use the online uploader and keywords show in seconds when I go to the edit page. Haven't had an error since about 2012.

"mr" what do you use to keyword and what fields are you filling in? More specifically what's missing? All data or just keywords or what?

I did the thing work for shutterstock.  ;)

Keywords are read from IPTC "keyword",
Title is read from "Description" of Exif or "Caption" in IPTC.

You've got it Mr. mr... sounds like something out of Catch 22?  :)

Title is from "Document Title" (depending), Caption = Description, and Keywords are Keywords.

The other part is, using spaces, commas or semi-colons might make a difference on some sites. Easiest standard is commas, but I'm using Carriage Returns, and that works for SS and IS using XMP and legacy combined, I can't suggest anything for all the sites that would be helpful or based on actual current experience.

If you have more than one way to look at the Metadata, like you are inputting with one software, then open in another and see what's showing, that can be helpful. Example, you use Lightroom or Photoshop.

When you are done, open with Irfanview and hit the letter "I" then "I" and see what you see? If all the same data is where it's supposed to be, there you very well are! Irfanview also has a lossless operation to set data to JPG images, it's kind of "well hidden" under Thumbnails > File > JPG Lossless Operations > Set IPTC data to selected files - WHICH, you can do batch editing, and apply the data to all selected files.

Good luck.
