Dear Shutterstock Submitters,

We wanted to let you know that we will be shutting down Photosights as of November 11, 2007. While we aim to offer as many options to our users as possible, our great strength is the subscription model. We have decided that we can serve our customers best by devoting all our resources to continuously improving and enhancing the subscription service at Shutterstock.

At 6pm on November 11, all traffic will be redirected to Shutterstock. Sometime after that date, the Photosights column in your stats page will be removed as well. All earnings will be paid out as usual.

We thank you for your understanding as we work through this transition. Please contact [email protected] with any questions or concerns.

Regards, Jon Oringer

I believe that through this site people could buy  a single image without having to buy a subscription.  Obviously they had to pay a lot more per image and we also earnt a lot more but I think that out of over 26,000 sales that I have had on SS only a handful were sold this way so it didn't really work well anyway so won't make much difference

It probably didn't work very well because people didn't find it.  I did get a few sales from there but haven't had one for a long time.  I don't know why shutterstock don't offer single sales at a premium from their main site.

I wonder the same thing, but properly advertised or maybe even under an option of each image not with a random site that nobody knows about and that nobody can find.

Shutterstock should just add a buy single image option, even if it is at like $20. I don't see how they could have even expected a non-marketed site to be a success in the first place, so this comes as no shock to me.
