Title: Resubmitting to Shutterstock
Post by: modviz on November 14, 2012, 11:55
Please forgive me if this is a simple procedure but I need some advice on resubmitting to Shutterstock.

I recently disagreed with a reviewer's reasons for rejecting an image and asked SS to look at the image and provide a second opinion. They wrote back and told me to include a remark/quote from the administrator.

When you resubmit, do you have to start from scratch? Can you not use the rejected image in the "rejected" category?

Where do you place the administrator's remark? Do you cut and paste it into the "description/title/caption"?

Sorry if I sound clueless but your help would be appreciated.

You have to resubmit from stratch and when you click to send your image after doing catagories and keywords you will see a box that is for any notes for the reviewer.  Write the explanation there.

What I normally do is write "Resubmission:" and then the reason it was rejected before and a very polite note why I disagree. Had 6 images rejected for "Noise--Noise, film grain, over-sharpening, or artifacts at full size." After explaining that the old paper style effect I used is supposed to be grainy and grungy, all where accepted. Guess the reviewer never looked at the picture, just had his display set to 100% and were looking only for focus and grain (figures).

Many thanks to you both. In my case I quoted the id/batch number and simply stated that I would like a second opinion on an image that was recently rejected.

You're right CD123....there's no need to get in a flap. If you truly believe that the reviewer made an error, resubmit it and hope the second set of eyes will see it the same way you do.

Thanks fotografer....it's resubmitted with the administrator's quote.

I need to resubmit some pictures as well, because SS told me to do so! They were rejected for some logos/names and they told me to remove everything and send the pics again. I did that and now they were rejected for other reasons >< I love their logic...

Anyway, I want to resubmit them and add a proper note, I don't want to risk annoying them because I'm sending the same pictures for the third time with no apparent reason. But I can't see any box for reviewer notes  ??? There's just the Description/Title/Caption box and the keywords one. Am I blind?

I'm fairly sure that you first have to click to submit (ensuring keywording and categories are completed). It's then that the screen appears for 'comments to reviewer' and a box in which to place your comments. There's no individual box per image for any comments.

Strictly speaking for myself- If rejected twice than I do not resubmit since I don't want to ruffle the features of the big bird...

Even if they told you to resubmit those pictures?  :( It was my mistake to send them again without any notes (  I really didn't notice that box  >< ) but if I add a proper note there shouldn't be any problems right?

I usually restrict myself to 2 submits of an image provided it isn't something bizarre.  I never bother with notes to the reviewers.

If i get an atilla batch rejected for no obvious reason to me i'll usually resubmit some of them mixed with others over the following weeks.  More often than not they get accepted the second time.
Had an EL a few days ago with one rejected on an atilla review which i resubmitted a week later and got accepted for example.

Twice though and i assume maybe there is a problem with the image (or im just unlucky getting the same ruthless, bored reviewer twice)
