I think it should at least be an optout for selling images to russia when shutterstock dont seem to have any problens selling.

Or maybe all images bought in russia going directly to aid Ukraine.

as did many US companies in the 1930s and WWII

Coca-Cola Company.
Coca-Cola played both American and German sides during World War II, but in 1941, the German side ran out of sugary syrup to make the soft drink. So Coca-Colas German division invented Fanta to continue to sell Coca-Cola brands in the Germany without breaking any restrictions or an embargo.

Kodak.
The German branch of Kodak used Jewish slave labor from concentration camps but continued to produce film stock for the Axis Powers during the War.

Chase Bank.
Chase Bank was one of many around the world that continued to work with Nazi during World War II. They also froze the assets of many European Jewish customers as a common practice to cooperate with the Third Reich.

Ford.
Believe it or not, Henry Ford was an anti-Semite and was awarded a Nazi medal, designed for distinguished foreigners in 1938. Ford continued to sell and make cars with Russian slave labor for American and Germans during World War II.

IBM.

General Electric.
GE partnered with German manufacturing firm Krupp to help build Hitlers army and used Jewish slave labor to build gas chambers during World War II and the Holocaust. The U.S. Government fined GE for working with the *, but the American company continued to profit off of the War. It was estimated that GE made $1.5 million in 1936 alone from working with Krupp and the *.

Random House.
Bertelsmann A.G. is a Random Houses parent company and they continued to publish Nazi propaganda and Adolf Hitlers writings during World War II.

Standard Oil.
The oil company was one of the very few that could produce tetraethyl lead gas to fuel the German military, so they were another American company that played both sides during the War.

The same goes for swiss banks, for example.

But this is the past. What matters is that today, Shutterstock has chosen to help Putin fuel his war machine (giving a hand to the destruction of Ukraine and the killing of innocent civilians, children inclusive) by doing business with his fascist regime.

I too had a sale in Moscow, last week.

Alamy gave us the option to opt out of sales in Russia.
Dreamstime and Depositphotos are openly supporting Ukraine.
If Shutterstock chose to turn a blind eye to Putin's attrocities, they should at least give us the option to opt out of this pact with the devil.

They are getting money out of Russia, not a bad thing for Ukraine.. As long as they don't sell Russian's imagery.

Those Russian sales are likely to be for advertising and other business related uses, maybe even for propaganda.

Therefore we are forced to become part of the Russian economy, the fuel of its war machine.  >:(

Dude. Russia have no way to pay for the images. Payment systems are disabled, they can't buy with the card anything outside the Russia. IT IS ALREADY BANNED.
The sales you probably see from Russia is from the long-term packages they've already bought.

So some company bought your photo of which you don't know their stance and you are mad?

Then you shout that all the money goes to Ukraine and you are glad.

Very confusing.

Either you stop with the agency that sells your photos to Russia (if you so please) or don't complain about it.

This way you are helping Russia getting their photos and the company that sells them and you get nothing :)

Win-win for the other parties except for you. Or are you able to check that really all proceeds go to Ukraine and not the company that sells the photo. All you know is that you are not getting paid for your photo, right?

I wish SS would stop doing business with a fascist regime.
Short of that, I don't want to benefit from their blood money and I'm donating it to the victims.

It's a moral issue.

What is so difficult for you to comprehend?

By the way, isn't it already done too? I remember very clearly, that Adobe quit licensing their products (including Stock) to the Russian government, associated structures and mass media. It was very early move too. And I think, SS joined this restrictions, but I can't say it for sure. Is it?

Why all this negative criticism of Russia?  Don't you people know your history?  And don't you know what has been going on in Ukraine these past couple of years?  Do your research and don't believe anything you read in the press, and particularly the American press.

Yes we do. The Russians, under Putin, have been invading Ukraine and killing Ukrainians since 2014 whilst waging a propaganda campaign that only the foolish cannot see through.

The level of brainwashing in Russia is unbelievable. It seems Russians think that Ukraine exists in some vaccuum, that the country doesnt have any neighbours apart from Russia. Guess what, you forgot about Poland, you forgot about Slovakia, you forgot about Czech republic - although not a direct neighbour but close enough to take in 400 000 refugees from Ukraine. You think we need some American press? We have our own eyes and ears and we can see the monstrosities the Russians commit in Ukraine. Noone needs any foreign press, we have our own. You really are so blinded, you dont realize Ukraine has neighbours.

Yeah, "do your research"!  ::)

I see this feeling of superiority way too often, from people who think they know better, when in fact they don't realize how effective in shaping their beliefs is the troll farm from Sankt Petersburg!

at the same time tucker carlson on fox and MAGA followers in general are still supporting putin's atrocities

On Aug. 29 Tucker Carlson of Fox News attacked President Bidens policy on Ukraine, asserting among other things: By any actual reality-based measure, Vladimir Putin is not losing the war in Ukraine. He is winning the war in Ukraine. Carlson went on, by the way, to assert that Biden is supporting Ukraine only because he wants to destroy the West.

Not to mention the confidence QAnon-ers display, when they assert their beyond-any-doubt deep "knowledge", about Jewish lasers and what not.

Same breed.
