It might seem contra-intuitive to ask you guys whether I should go out and increase competition for you but I'll do it anyway  ;)

I am on Dreamstime (early favorite, fallen seriously out of favor), Fotolia (best $$ performer overall, very slow recently), IStock (smallest portfolio, best $/uploaded pix ratio), Bigstock (not worth my while) and as of recent Panthermedia (so far no sales and only a handful views) - should I add Shutterstock?
A lot of people here say its there best performer in terms of $ but the $0.25 per dld has so far kept me from going there.  So, what do you think - is it worth my while uploading and categorizing all over again?

Thanks for the input.

Tina

Tina, there was a similar thread recently:

If your keywords are already prepared with the picture, the uploading is quite simple.

A mere 25c per photo doesn't sound a lot, but if your images sell again and again it all mounts up.

Also, they do a $20 Extended Licence for images, which I get from time to time (got one yesterday  :) )

I think you should bother, with 60 images and 20 days there, my current average is 20 dls/day. I'm very happy with SS.

Good luck!  :)

SS is the only reason I have stuck with it ... they are as fussy as hell, but what they accept sells. $100 a month from only 51 photos is my reason.

Wow, that's a superfantastic average!

And yes, you definitely should be uploading to SS. They are far and away my best earning site.

Thanks, guys.  I signed up and will get started asap.  Any words of wisdoms as to what they accept and don't accept (the unwritten "do's and don'ts), e.g. Fotolia hasn't accepted any of my landscapes in ages (overabundant category) so I don't submit them anymore - but I had to learn it the hard way.
I know better than to submit sunsets and my front yard flower pictures  ;) - but is there anything on the "unofficial" dont-list that isn't mentioned on their webpage?

Thanks for your help.  This is a terrific forum for microstock photographers!!

They are very picky on grain/noise.

Tina -   By all means,go for SS.  SS is a top earner!!   I'm on 9 sites and SS is my #1 consistently.  In the last  3 months, SS has brought me over 80% of my sales.  Yes even at 25 cents, how?  VOLUME!!  Just pure quantity of sales.  You'll find your top images selling multiple times per day.
SS can be a tough one to get on.  They are fanatical about NOISE. As far as subject, speaking for myself, I have everything from animals to isolated inantimate, but mostly landscape/travel.  They all sell.  Someone made a comment about them being picky, but what the pick, SELLS. That's 100% correct!    In my case, I am nearing the 90% mark of my portfolio having been SOLD.

As far as the competition thing goes.... :D  ...well, first off, welcome to the gang here at MSG... that being said, I think you'll find that the folks here are like a family.  Since I've been here I have never seen any hint of a competition mentality. Rather just the opposite. When you have questions, or need advice, there is no shortage of help to be offered. And, it's generally great help. I personally have learn a lot about the business here in this forum.      8) -tom
