not sure if anyone noticed a drop or increase in sales from the norm on Shutter today. I checked my best images and they are no longer on the first page or bumped down thus sales down for me.  Hopefully I am the only one down in sales today  :-\

May 1 is a major holiday in most of the world.

May 1 is a major holiday in most of the world.
Really?
Not, as far as I can make out, in any of the 'main markets' for stock, other than France and Germany.
(Many countries, like the UK, shift the May Day holiday to the first Monday of May.)
That said, I'm sitting on nada today on iS.

There must have been a shuffle of sorts, Most of the D/L's I received today were old images rarely sold in the past. It seems that SS has been doing this lately and usually for a day or so before going back to the norm.

I did wonder about that "most" comment. Although Australia is small fry, we moved our Labor Day holiday to October. We're still working!

Maybe I should have said "much" of the world.
I'm certainly hoping Holiday is the reason that my sales are even worse than weekends.   :-\

All my sales today were new images uploaded last month - but though final sales $ in April were average, they would have been way below average if I deducted ELs from the final figure.  I hope whatever shuffling they've done doesn't mean more months like April to come where a reasonable return isn't possible without ELs - though more ELs are always welcome. :)

Happy May Day everyone!

It was HORRIBLE!!  I made $5 today.  I usually make $20-30 a day.

that explains why i had 1/3 less downloads than regular downloads as all my files are new files.  :(

My sales yesterday on a number of sites were way down - the total sales were just better than a good weekend (half usual income).  I'm chalking it up to be due to a holiday in many countries.

If I ignore EL sales, which I don't get every month, I never seem to get large fluctuations on ss. I notice fluctuations elsewhere just not ss. I didn't see a holiday effect on May 1.

I had a bad day yesterday indeed, but I'm not sure it's related to that holiday. My sales on SS are always like this: brilliant day -> bad day -> brilliant day -> bad day.

And I checked and my best selling pics are still on the front page, thanks god!

I have noticed this shuffle for the first time, very clearly, since about 5 days ago, still going on until today, all my old  useless junks are selling, surprising, but not complaining here.

Have also noticed this. For some reason and for some time now they seem to be against showing new content. Uploading new content?  whats the point.

Clearly not 'useless'; just shows how much the sites can influence what is sold.

I had a bad day yesterday in DLs but an EL made up for it. Today seems to be on track to a good day. My goal at the moment is 11 dollar per day on average to hit BME this month.

I've noticed some ups and down; ebbs and flows; etc; but don't agree on new file sales.  My old vs new ratio is at its highest ever.

Thanks for this thread and info. I had a very bad Monday and wondered what was going on (in the US, May 1 is not a holiday, and "May day!" means "Help!")

Today, Thursday, is also HORRIBLE, like $5 again.  There has to be something else happening. They must have tweaked their best match, but I am on track to make $100 this month when I make 6-8 times that per month.

I would expect that if mayday was slow due to it being a holiday, we'd see some rebound today, maybe not full throttle but 50-75%??

Um. I think we need to wait more than 1.5 days out of 31 to decide how much we will make this month!

When I see yet another doom and gloom thread about sales over on SS I purposely remind myself that the regular forum scribblers probably add up to less than 5% of the of the active contributor base - and that any day now someone else will start a BME thread.

Well, just as long as there is a balance between the doom and gloom and BME posts, all is fine in stock world.

Unfortunately I am down 50% so far on nearly all my sites, with SS being one of them (+1 for the gloom side).

Someone else mentioned global economy for the downfall, maybe over a long period of decline, but not from one day to another, where my sales fall by 50% after a rocking April. As mentioned before, the last time I saw these sales figures was around christmas 2012 with 250 less images.

Doing fine as usual, not maybe BME but as usual. Next month 3 days into it we'll get the same doom and gloom, conspiracy, claims of search change and all same people who waite the same here and at SS forum. No shuffle no news. These ppl must watch the downloads every hour to see is they made 39 cents.

Think it is safe though to start making a call after a week (25% of the months income) if you are heading towards a BME, average or bad month. Not to say it can not turn, but if you have a 50% deficit to make up after a week, it will take some exceptionally great sales to get the month back on track (well at least in my case with my port).

Guilty as charged ... but mine are only 33 cents.   8)

This time around their sort clearly show they are investing in smaller members with smaller portfolios hoping it will save them lots of money in payouts.
They are in fact doing an FT on us. Who would have thought this was ever going to happen with an agency like Shutterstock?

Well, then I would be getting a lot of downloads then, and I dont. I dropped too, and I am a 'smaller'  member.  ( what a weird thing to say, smaller member  ;) )

I wish you more downloads :)  I am quite new to this forum but have 14 years experience in stock photography. Never seen such a perfect demise in the stock world as seen right now.
Somebody I know there have a portfolio of 9000 images and have fallen from 400 dollars per day to 150 dollars and thats during the last two weeks.
We are not alone thats for sure.

Could it be that the cake is being sliced more thinly because of all the ex-exclusives signing up there? (Mind you, it feels as though many buyers went with them.)

How about Bigstock? People are reporting big increase in sales there. Bigstock sells images for 16 cents, Shutterstock subs are 23 cent. What if buyers are copping on and are going to BS in masses? I never understood why they introduced cheaper images at BS, undercutting your own business. I am sure they thought this through, but it seems like a very unsmart business decision from the start. Maybe I am just a simpleton, probably missing something.

Since the bridge to BS I have always done well there. My sales though are a lot more then 0.23c.

They have more than 26 million images, about 75.000 added last week. Which is not more than it used to be.
Obviously dilution plays a big role in that game, but that can't be responsible for the large drops some people are reporting.

I personally don't see much change in either direction. Anyway, my numbers are too small to be statistically relevant.
