They will. They will create new AI models and these models will need the images once again. How do you want to do that without these images? The new models will increase amount of parametres, will be trained to do more stuff that the old model was not trained to, you need these images to train it on. You cannot just use the previous model that will miraculously use the previously trained information in a completely new algorithm with new features. You do not need it for fine-tuning the algorithm, but in the six-year period, there will be at least 3, maybe even more totally new generations of models trained completely from scratch.

That's good. I hope they do some new training and use something of mine. I haven't had a cent from the contributor fund since last year.

I have no video on SS anymore. That could explain things.

This question was also on my mind today... I would just guess that there will only be compensation, if at all, if someone finds out whether this was really done with Shutterstock data (and therefore with ours) and it then boils up high enough in the press.

It certainly won't come from Shutter itself and I'm also involved with about 4,000 videos there.
Let's see if something comes of it when the new system goes live.

When I just checked my earnings, I saw that I was making money as a contributor fund again. But it's the lowest earnings ever.

I got a small contributor fund payment today. The amount we get for datasets keeps getting lower, yet this side of Shutterstock's business is booming according to their annual report.

And apparently companies are paying decent money to stock agencies for datasets:
"Rates vary by buyer and content type, but Braga said companies are generally willing to pay $1 to $2 per image, $2 to $4 per short-form video"

"Sora" is also the name of a town of about 25,000 inhabitants in central Italy in the Lazio region 

I also received a small extra contributor fund bonus yesterday.

Maybe they have a bot running every end of the month across all ports, and whoever crosses certain threshold they credit the account.   That would explain different people getting credit to their accounts at different times

I saw that Shutter and Pond5 wrote that they give us 20% from AI, the question is, how much did they pay us from AI before?

Guys, it's been 9 months since the last payment, maybe it's time to start writing to them? Or will they start paying once a year? Otherwise, I have a feeling that Getty will pay us $10 each, tell them to be happy...

Exactly.

Also as I understand these payments were not ever an ongoing arrangement. Do these AI machines need more of our content to train? Even if they do, now it would only be the machines learning on new content uploaded and that would be almost negligible payment amount for most contributors.   

I opted in for dataset training on both Shutterstock and Pond5 after seeing the generous payouts many contributors received on Pond5 last October.

I hope to earn a nice payout since my content has not been used for dataset training. If I don't, I guess I will have missed out!

After reviewing what video generators are producing, I'm not concerned about being replaced by them anytime soon—especially not for high-quality niche content.
