Just tried to go over to the Forum to see what was happening and it appears to have disappeared.

Is anyone else having this problem.

Anna Shutterstock said her bland announcement of the shutdown on the forum was enough and an explanation to all users or/and a message on the website unnecessary (maybe it wasn't her, but some advertising person under her name).
Presumably with in mind an old saying: "Never wake a sleeping dog".

Me too! but at least they took the time to notify us, as us is the people who actually looked at the forums, that they would be closed
 :)
We can see if anyone figures that out?

Shutterstock disabled the forum on October 15th.

And all the trolls came here to ruin this forum. I just noticed most of the long time MSG regulars are gone.

Diana, I am also one of these Shutterstock trolls, which has fled here at some point in this forum  ;)

But I don't want to leave you alone with your impression. But this has imo nothing to do with Shutterstock or their forum itself.

When I started here, the MSG-forum - there are of course always exceptions - has a very pleasant, partly very familiar personal community touch with good discussions also outside of stock.

At some point, for example people like Thijs or Martha (who gave the forum a certain soul) were badly bullied out of here. Others stopped posting here as a result. I miss these people in this forum. Those who caused this now continue to post here quite dominantly.

But what I found more frightening from observation is that no one from the long-established MSG regulars intervened - they simply didn't care.

Sounds a bit pathetic now: But this forum has lost its soul and seems somehow only factually sterile. I also find that a pity.

Internet forum psychology is already very special.

actually some of us did try, but the damage had been done, and the nasties chased them away, but we continue to interact  on FB

For the most part, there's not much to comment on by me. I mostly just look around and read something if come across something interesting to read.
Comment from a former SS contributor.  ;)

PS
I never understood why some have to exude or be rude to a fellow human being and feel they need to compete and or dominate like some kind of animal? Can we all just be loving ,fun and treat someone how you would want to be treated? Not to mention be professional?
Life is too short to be a forum fool. 🤡

Unfortunately this happens on a lot of forums, where the old-timers feel they have the right to bully the newcomers. I had to leave a forum a week after joining, after being attacked by one of the more "experienced" posters, because I expressed an opinion he didn't share.

Some people feel that the forums are their territory that they need to protect.

Oh so you've tried Alamy forums?  ;D

It's not always the old members, sometimes new people come in guns blazing and shoot up the place to prove how wonderful they are. Most of those you will see with "This User Is Banned", under their names.

We don't all have to be kind little fuzzy bunnies and we don't always have to agree, but being polite and respectful of differences is a good healthy concept. I sure can't expect people to agree with me all the time. I don't know why some people expect everyone else to agree with them, or it's some kind of personal affront. No it's just not agreeing or thinking the same things in the same way.

Hi Digital, the Microstock regulars would like to welcome you to the forum...  ;)

These are real people who used to be on the forum in 2012. (Well not Obama or Homer, but the rest were)

Well spoken, because that is almost exactly what happened. The old guard thought they could insult newcomers and then left crying when they couldn't handle the response of the newcomers.

Interesting that especially you are joining this discussion here when you are part of the problem and some of your posts here have been deleted.

Actually, I wasn't going to name names here and also did not want to deepen the topic.
But you set yourself up here ,very clever.

So it was you who bullied newcomers out here. Unfortunately, there is not much left, but here is a small example:

" And Thijs, my new years wish is that you will not mention the Netherlands in each of your comments but just comment from your own heart. I know you think it's a great country but actually that was a long a time ago. Around the 18th century or somewhat"

That was admittedly one of your kinder comments.

Yes Ralf, I know. I was probably the person to drive Thijs away. But that was after some high horse remarks he made towards me which were quite insulting. As you remember, because he didn't agree with my opinion, he wished I would be banned from the forum. So, I believe I kept it pretty civil nonetheless. Same goes for Martha that had a nasty, I know it all better attitude, around here and was also pretty insulting to everyone she did not agree with. I don't mind she left. I am not the person that expresses my opinion and get's ridiculised to crawl away with my tail between the legs. Just because you are, seemingly, with your buddies does not give you the right the insult others with a different opinion, let alone be outraged when they speak back to you and your "buddies".
If you can't take the heat, don't go into the kitchen. I certainly did not start it. It was a reaction to other people's insults.

edit: Ralf, I was the newcomer and some people of the old guard left, don't twist it around.
edit 2: some of my posts were deleted, but not by Leaf, probably by your buddies who couldn't stand another person's opinion. Actually my whole account was deleted by one of your buddies. It wasn't Leaf who did that, but most likely, it was Martha because I did not agree with her "superior" vision.

You came to the forum new, started insulting people. Nobody but Leaf Tyler can delete messages you've been told that before. Only Tyler can ban someone. You aren't the victim you are the cause of your own problems.

Only leaf can ban users and delete posts.

Some old timers can move threads to other sections or into garbage if it is a crypto scammer, but we cannot delete posts or ban.

Anyway, this is not the only forum, there are thousands of stock social media groups. But it is a forum with many longtime users who have a lot of experience, this is true.

You are on the internetdont like a placestart your own group ;)

I think many regulars have left because they stopped doing stock. That is why you see them a lot less on the stock groups.

If you are connected with them in other ways, via facebook networks etcyou see them happily posting about their new business journeys.

This place is a treasure trove of historical microstock information. After reading some of these really old posts, I can see how much the business has changed over the years. Gives a good idea of how competitive it has become, and also how the marketplaces have dramatically driven down the prices :/

Sadly microstock has become a lot less competitive with other jobs.

Yes this is a treasure trove of information. Wisdom too which would tell new members to find some other way to make money, but they don't listen.
