Yep discovered that to my cost no logic to it. Not going to raise it in case they decide my existing images have "incorrect" releases.

Sadly Only SS demands this. Get theres and Take there Name off and use it. Only difference I see in the new One is dates need to be put in under everything. anyone want the One I use which works, Happy to share. [email protected],    BTW. theres a box for a reference Image. use that for illustrations.ie paintings/Drawing etc.

they sure have a knack for making everything more difficult.

Sounds like a lot more work for probably zero pay (as new images don't get downloaded)...

I was using the same one since day One. and still do for the other 8 sites Im with. had to use a new One if I wanted to get accepted at SS. It is theirs with a few Modifications. I think the Original One I used in 2003 was a IS release. Just rewrote it. I'll be switching to new one for all sites next week. when I shoot I always have a  backlog to upload in reserve.Like said if ya want a copy just ask.

I've never had to submit a model release form, so I'm no expert, but I would have assumed that SS provide a template that people can use, which contains all the required info?

When did the new release come out? I had been using the current IS release for all my submissions with no issue...but haven't submitted anything very recently. Wonder if they will still take the current IS release?...

Just checked on SS site. The latest release is dated 2012...did I miss something here?...is there a newer release somewhere?

I use a Getty release that's dated December, 2008 with Shutterstock and my other agencies.  Started using it in mid-2010 and continue to use it without any issues.  All the problems I've encountered were about incomplete or incorrectly entered information, not the content on the form itself.

The same here. I use a model release, that Yuri Arcurs has published some years ago. Last upload to Shutterstock was some days ago without any problems. The mr was accepted as always.

I have property releases of my own pets.  Not only are the property owner and name of photographer the same but under pets' names I have included : [ name of species] and "belonging to photographer" and one agency made me update it with a new one every year.

Probably the one I gave Him when he started. yuri wrote the forward in Our first book that I advertised here. His Dad is a great shooter also and friend.  N+MR release's??? I don't know anymore. I give up. When it works Great. when it doesn't refer back here and get another... I Have 47 Images of a great model. I finally got in touch with her. she moved back home from hollywood. Im sending her the new one to sign and return. what a PITA.

Maybe the change is not to the release itself but more around the policy of it. SS are saying that if a model signed a release, for example 7 years ago, should that same release still be valid if you rework the images, composite them into new images, etc? They are saying that the model should sign a new release which relates to the images you want to produce now. They are making sure that the model is aware of the new work you are wanting to produce and have agreed to it.

Which makes no sense as the model in my case never saw the final results or signed them off

That does make sense. I do go back at times and rework a few Old Images been doing that forever But...Never was rejected for a release. and It's ALWAYS on Primadonna SS.

I haven't uploaded in over a year.  I have a huge backlog of model released images.  Does this mean I can't upload them with the releases signed the day of the shoot, or with the ones that have been stored on THE SS site?

If I can't use my existing releases, that kills any chance of me uploading to SS again.  OTOH I can stop feeling guilty about not uploading...

The whole POINT of having models sign a release is so they DON'T get to come along months or years later and complain about how the image was used or reworked.

I can't find this news anywhere? this sounds a drastic move and possibly they have run into legal problems with releases? or else why asking us and especially older proven members for fresh and updated releases?
Lots of extra work for nothing really.

true. even if the model suddenly becomes say, a political figure or famous as in the
case of those famous actresses or Miss America,etc.. who had posed nude
as a newbie,
the MR they signed held water in court.

i can't remember their names, but it was holding in the cases of
that Miss America who later became a singer,
and that actress , i think suzanne somers ???

the only exception being the models who added clauses
whereby it states something like eg. you cannot use her parts as a composite
with another model ...

but when it is re-used in a later date, the original MR all covers that .

No problems for me either. Must be another one of those things that only happens to Laurin. I'd like the specifics instead of a lynch mob rally without the details.

Only if you believe there is some problem, based on one person who likes to stir up complaints.

Correct and trust for me it has come up a LOT.

What comes up a lot? Do you use the same release for iStock since 2005? What do they say now?
