Title: Shutterstock Single Image Purchases
Post by: ppdd on June 27, 2011, 15:55
Did you know that a user can buy a single image now at Shutterstock for $15? Anyone know how long this has been available?

It's also in a small info box on the home page of U.S. Site.

Doesn't make sense to me though that you have to pay for 2 enhanced licenses even if you only need one.

Sure does, one picture $200 SS makes the profit on the un-used second image. :D

Or maybe it gets them to come back for their credit that's good for a year?

What I'm more interested in, is how much are we going to be payed for those purchases? Since there was no announcement and no change in earnings visible in our stats, I presume we're getting OD royalties ???

I can't see it from where I am too. Maybe they are just limiting it to the States. Would be useful though, I spent ages looking for an image elsewhere once, which I could only find on Shutterstock. I really wanted the image but didn't want to pay $49 for 5 downloads. I found it eventually, but it was a lot of time wasted.

And now it's gone again - I don't see it anymore! They must be testing something.

Update: I see it in my office, but not at home. Hard to figure out what's going on.

Nope still there, the image and the link are the same. Must be Internet VooDoo

http://www.shutterstock.com/subscribe.mhtml (http://www.shutterstock.com/subscribe.mhtml)

"SHUTTERSTOCK STATS:
15,520,020 royalty-free stock photos / 67,642 new stock photos added this week / 302,652 photographers"

But yes, what will we get paid? $28, $50 ??? I haven't had an EL this year (keep in mind the source of this data, 300 images on site for four years now. Small time operation) But I'd sure like a one time download license!  :) Maybe someone will get one and we'll know. Until then, the guessing is fun. Sharp eyes for the people who found this.

Says in the little box that Enhanced License Applies. So my guess is $28?

Huh - I see this:

yeah, that's what I see too.

I am curious to know if what we are getting paid is going to be updated at all.

has anyone posted the question to SS support?

Why would someone do that and ruin a good thread filled with conjecture and mystery?  ;D

My vote for the answer is, we get an EL, but trust me I asked no one at SS, didn't source information and pulled that out of my back pocket.  8)

I'll let someone else do the hard part and get the accurate facts.
