The forum doesnt represent everyone. Plus Whenever someone says sales are crap someone else says their sales are up. Its never been everyone.

This month is super slow($$$) on SS. Is it only me or........
Any thoughts?

SS pretty good showing recovery over sept - oct.  DT is ok.  FT dropped mid month and staying in a hole.  IS up and down as usual for me.  Bigstock doing well compared to my usual numbers since last 2 to 3 months. Oct was a BME month unfortunately Nov wont match up.  Lets see what Christmas brings ;)

Just another good stable month for me so far, but the sets does work fantastically. Not being so long with SS I only have 1 image that went ballistic with downloads (180 in a few months - not a lot for many here, but a lot for me for 1 image). I have placed the image with about 9 others in a set and within a week now I at least had a 1st sale on half the others.
Personally I think only the unnecessary over cautious will pass up on this great marketing opportunity to route extra views and therefore potential sales to you own port.

Slightly lower number of downloads compared to last month (highest ever), but way more per download this month. On track for BME. Heaps of ED's and OD's.

Can't complain, SS is doing well for me. It's DT that has dropped the ball...

The sets?
Im uncomfortable with these.
Are they just another search paremeter where we can do all the work and promote ourselves on the cost of something else.
What about the pictures that are not in the sets?
What about sets from one person on behalf of another.
I mean, when you make a set, do you then compete with my pictures or  with your own.
Also, where are they spread and how, and what is not spread?

Is it so, that from now on, its only meaningfull if you put your pictures in sets.
So, has now the search gone from single pictures to whole sets the photographers put together.
Im not comfortable.
When you put a set together are you at the same time abandoning the other pictures you have?

Also I fear that the next logical step is to search for whole collections. Like an agencys collections.
Thats noth healthy.

I might be wrong, but as far as I have it the only change is when people look at your portfolio. Not sure if it influences the similar images display (will be nice if it does). And you definitely do not have to add anyone else's images to your own sets. If it is not in a set, it is still displayed as normal in your portfolio.

The sets are a mere additional option to buyers to view your images. That is exactly my (and surely SS's) view, to make it easier for the buyer to find what they are looking for. Do not use it and you will not offer a function to your buyers which other contributors do.

That's the way I saw it.  Most customers will never see your sets unless they actually go into your portfolio.  I think all it does is make it easier for buyers to search your port for mor images.

I think all it does is make it easier for buyers to search your port for more images.

Specifically for more of the same images, which was not possible in the past. I placed all my images in sets (something like 28 of them) and the only old images that I had 1st time sales on was in the set with my 1 high selling image. Enough proof for me and enough said. Those who do not want to use it, please don't, it just increases my chance of a sale  ;)

A significantly slow month for me at SS so far.  I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing the same.  I'll be putting my sets together later today.

slow month for me too. Even uploading every day doesn't help in my case.

At least they are slow at showing up new accepted images... My new images have been hanging somewhere for the past 24 hours, can't understand what is taking so long.

Mine too.  A bit concerned.  Don't remember that being the norm?

My images are still in "limbo"... Does anyone else beside me and Warren have the same problem?

Had a few approved yesterday late and they are in my port already (about within 14 hours). Sounds like you guys have to contact support.

PS Already have my first sale on one of them.

Very SLOW moth for me too, (SS only)
I don't think it's normal, the market doesn't act like that, there's always a margin(up and down).. anything outside that margin isn't normal,
last month sales were way above it and this one are way below it, it can't be a coincidence.

About the missing images, I just found this (I'm very, very rarely on SS forums)

You did note that that was a Nov 2011 issue?

I am actually having a quite good month at SS (made some nice sales the last 4 days especially).

Yes. Same here. Probably a BME with SS. The sets are really helping to sell images that ordinarily sit untouched. Dreamstime is stuck in the muck and has been for months.

My sales are fine but several "approved" files are still missing from portfolio.
There is a thread on SS forum.

It started slow, now is ok. But yes, ı have approval problem too that they accepted my files after "11" days. It ıs very surprising and i did not benefit from well my last uploads in that way.

I am on 11 days too and its crap. I have 51 files pending and I am afraid they are going to go online come weekend. So its another 51 files down the drain. Dont tell me thats just a hoax, I had a few batches that hit the weekend the files never had a chance. And they were good photos.

In 8 years of uploading to SS I can't say I've ever identified an issue with images being approved on a weekend. Good images always get noticed and bought (and plenty of bad ones too) although sometimes it can take several weeks rather than days for them to take off.
