I hate the fact that certain agencies keep their shop open over weekends, but leave it virtually unattended. It's better that they close shop too if those in charge want a nice weekend and don't want to pay people to do weekend shifts.

They are all 24/7 operations - are there actually some of them that don't have 24/7 technical cover even on an on-call basis with automated monitoring?

Yes indeed. I'm surprised that certain 24/7 operations don't seem to have fully grasped 'shift work'.
