They rolled out improvements that disable editing function. You can't copy keywords anymore. Catalog manager is replaced by some terrible Marketplace Editor. We lose ways to work and they roll out new versions that no one needs or asks for. Don't be surprised next time you try to upload or edit. There is a tab for now to use legacy, we don't know how long that will stay. There's also a comment tab on top. Try the new and tell them what you think.

Yeha, already have this since a few days ago.
All I see is a "fancy looking" new design that does really nothing but take away multiple very useful features. There is absolutely no benefit to this change. Just a new look, less functionality.

As you said the ability to copy keywords is gone and this is one I use all the  time to keyword images with similar topics. But also the keyword tool is gone - one of the only real good features, if not probably the only good feature, SS added in recent years and a really useful tool I used each and every single time to check whether I had missed some obvious keywords.

I don't see the point. You want a new design? Sure, if that makes you happy. But don't remove features with it.... again.

The feedback option is pointless. When they changed the dashboard I saw not a single contributor who said he liked the new version. Everyone hated it it. I know I still do, with a passion. I hardly check my earnings on SS anymore.
THey also had a feedback option and I cannot believe they got one single positive feedback. Yet the horrible new dashboard was never changed back.
I send them very detailed feedback with a list of all the things I did not like about the new design and even with explanations why they were a huge downgrade. Seems like this was a waste of time. Seriously doubt a human even ever saw the feedback.

For now the new submit/edit page does not bother me much as SS gives me the option to change back to the old design - But I suspect there will be a time when they make that option unavailable and I will be stuck with this new page.

One could almost think SS is really trying very very hard to get rid of as many of their contributors as possible.

I signed in to check and I still get the same old dashboard, but there is a banner on top telling me that something new and exciting is on its way. I'm in NY, ss's home base, so surprised it hasn't been rolled out here.

At the top of the page it shows you can switch back to the legacy portfolio experience at any time.
And you will need to do that for sure as the new way is a step backwards.

Yes, and I have logged in twice and had to click the bubble each time. Maybe it could just stick?

Double yes to all of that and I didn't notice the loss of the keyword tool. what are they thinking? Landing page, I couldn't care less if I see the map or not. But the way they made the sales pages, not fit and not display and just a PITA. Who does these things? Who approves them? Are they really that out of touch? "Oh Yeah, it's really a nice looking page now".

But they forgot it doesn't do what it's supposed to and it has lost functions.

Unbelievable, can't submit video. Keeps telling me I need to save. I use this a couple of days ago and it worked with copying keywords and submitted fine but last night and this morning I can't submit. They must be trying to discourage contributions because this is a disaster, or otherwise a web designer who is bent on ruining everything.

ETA 1: I see what was wrong. Where you could previously accept keywords it identified as spelling error (such as a real and actual place / location name) you can seemingly accept this is correct but it won't allow you to save, so the workaround is to remove the keyword from the list. Otherwise you can still copy and paste the keywords. - you just press the plus sign at right. Just need to keep the place name in the title but not in the keywords. Hopefully it is still searchable. Other update is descriptions have a 150 character limit down from 200 characters.

^ This all related to my experience with video as I no longer submit images to Shutterstock and stopped months ago .

ETA 2: Also cannot find a reason for rejection - not that I gave it any attention anyway.

ETA 3: As mentioned above, can switch to legacy and return to the older (and much better) submission platform. Bit tricky as it appears at first the uploads have disappeared but you just have to navigate out of the submission platform (if you're there to begin with) and then the existing uploads are there.

Out of interest, can anyone share screenshots of what the new catalog manager and submit page look like? The exciting new changes haven't been rolled out in my region yet.

I tested this, and was able to mark the perceived misspelt word by clicking on it and marking it as 'this is correct'. I was then able to save and submit.

I logged in to submit and check status of a few files and its horrific.
Now multiple clicks to find the rejection reason of a file and from what i can see, no way of displaying more than 1 at a time.

Submitting makes batches much harder.  Now again multiple clicks on each one in turn to change or submit.  No real way to do a batch or see what needs changing.

It hugely increases the time and inconvenience of submissions and checking submission status.  Fortunately, you can still go back to the older one but for how long.....

Its the biggest step backwards on the submit page ive seen since contributing.

Why do they do this?!!

It's terrible! They've removed the search / filter facility in the Catalog Manager, so you now have to trawl through pages of images to find the image you want. It basically makes the manager completely useless.

They make changes that no one asks for and makes the uploading/managing experience worse.

We complain complain complain complain complain complain complain complain complain.

The code writers giggle at our displeasure and pat themselves on the back for creating a need for their existence.

Rinse and repeat.

I have to revert to Legacy every day. Everyone please write and tell them what you think of this, it's on the top of the default page.

Here's just part of the problem. You can click on an image and then to edit, you have to move up to the top of the screen again, and hit edit. If you pick more than one image, it says multiple items, multiple descriptions and is useless. No keyword tool.

Not very useful.

You aren't missing anything.

What happened with Location(optional) field in the new design?

Must of been created by AI. Hence the 10 extra fingers steps.

AI would have done a better job -- just ask chatgpt to do your re-design

unfortunately, this is a modern curse - inexperienced designers who don't bother to do a needs analysis first, interviewing users to see what's actually needed; they just add what they think is an improvement, then dont bother to conduct an alpha test much less a beta test - they just ejaculate   whaledreck into the wild without ever consulting the users we see this with ALL the agencies spewing new versions.

[rant] it's not just here - it' s everywhere and much more annoying in more consequential apps -eg, not realizing that a backspace is a character, so when someone makes a typo, it invalidates the entry. there are simple routines to strip unwanted characters, including 'special characters and otherwise cleanup & validate the users entries but these newbie coders are too lazy to add an extra line of code and seem to have even fewer supervisors who understand software development in the real world. These are boring, non-sexy elements of software, unlikely to even be covered in academic courses [/rant]

Every design change of contributor portal in last 7 years:
"Hey, let's change the interface to make it seem easier and sleekier for 19-year-olds on iPhone."
"Sure, do you wan't to consult with experienced contributors who submit 100 images a day on professional desktop PC?"
"No, they are unimportant. Nothing is more important than iPhone user experience for 19-year-olds!"
"Say no more, fam"

SS screwed up the company back in 2017 not just the interface! At this point I've given up on SS.

Sounds like even more good content from experienced producers will be going near exclusively to Adobe.

They change nothing and keep winning.

Yes, they're going backwards in helping us.
Plus I'm having filing stopped at uploading for oversize (50MB) but my files are under 25MB.

Well said! They forget that Adobe is doing a better job of things than they are. If Adobe ever offers exclusivity then S/S will suffer for their disrespect.

no evidence that would happen - wishful thinking by anti-SS folk.  SS wasn't harmed by those who stopped uploading and many of us who stayed report RPD for AS & SS hasn't changed much, while AS sales continue to be significantly less than SS (in my case 50-70% less) some of this is likely due to AS rejecting many images that sell on SS combined with AS rejecting most editorial images.  (and batch rejects by AS haven't helped)

For editorial I am sure SS is still a great place. And I doubt Adobe is interested in doing editorial seriously, so in that field their only real competition is Getty. And Getty doesn't take editorial video.

But commercial is different.

Would Adobe mess up their upload system like this? They would probably beta test it on experienced producers to make it fit their workflow.

The old SS would have done that too.

They said in their last financial interview their focus for growing the business was not stock sales, but data sales, especially licensing for ai training.

So we will see when we get the next exciting news that helps ss grow their data business.
