For editorial I am sure SS is still a great place. And I doubt Adobe is interested in doing editorial seriously, so in that field their only real competition is Getty. And Getty doesn't take editorial video.

But commercial is different.

Would Adobe mess up their upload system like this? They would probably beta test it on experienced producers to make it fit their workflow.

The old SS would have done that too.

They said in their last financial interview their focus for growing the business was not stock sales, but data sales, especially licensing for ai training.

So we will see when we get the next exciting news that helps ss grow their data business.

"They said in their last financial interview their focus for growing the business was not stock sales, but data sales, especially licensing for ai training."

Not sure what that means.

Short sighted if they expect AI training to go on forever. Once used, it's not needed. Oh wait, that's our side, one use or two and done.

New training, maybe, and that's why everything rejected, they tried to slot over into Data Catalog so they could sell it for AI, without putting it up on the standard site. WE feed the data beast that's eating our income?

they don't necessarily sell training, they sell already trained datasets others can use - i'd expect these would be subsets of the main one - eg, medical, architectural, etc

as far as pumping the data library, i've found most 'eligible' are n not my best images (those are approved), but 'not quite' similars that would otherwise rejected. it's not in their best interest to inflate the training set as they'll lose sales from those items, versus the small income per individual image among millions.

Ah, and then we get our .03 when they license that specialized set? Hey when is the next exciting and much anticipated, Contributor Fund report coming? If they are concentrating on data sales and sets, where's our slice of the pie?

I opted out of the data library, as all I saw what everything rejected, went into that. I wasn't going to count on the pennies adding up from those rejects. I mean, not good enough to sell, but good enough to license a data?

Quick question (if anyone can help me).... It seems to me or Shutterstock removed the option to select clip thumbnail in catalog manager??

There is a dramatic decrease in sales compared to previous years. Did most of the customers move to MJ or other AI services and cancel subscription? I really don't know. Shutterstock always adjusting the site. They removed the info on the preview screen telling the photo is a good seller or not. This might have affected the sales also. There is also a significant decrease in Adobe stock.

Did you manage to find a way to do it in new design layout? Can't believe they cut this function off. Also confusing submitting page , can't really see which clip is ready to be submitted and which needs more work on adding keywords/description/title ... Only line saying "not submitted" which is kind of obvious and silly remark since we are on Submit page..

You mean the inaccurate data claiming some photo was hot or not, when some of mine that sold best, were not ranked high and some with no sales, had been marked as interesting or climbing in popularity. That was one of the dumbest features SS ever added. It was BS.

I also didn't think much of that feature & it's probably good it's gone.

But let me tell you what I think is the reason behind these frequent interface changes.  SS IT Department is too big.  They need raison d'etre, so they invent things.  It doesn't particularly bother me but they introduce bugs. In this last one I simply couldn't submit image with keyword they thought it was invalid, even after I checked "Yes, this is right"  & had to switch to legacy.  Maybe it's fixed now.   Compare this to minimalist AS Interface which has been static more or less since day 1 as they probably think time is better spent elsewhere.

Like many others here for me AS, with smaller port, is far outpacing SS.   First 17 days of Jan  AS = SSx7, incl. EL the other day.  The only thing right now in favour of SS is that it's still possible to get $$$ sale, although very rare.  On AS largest I had was 26.40, on SS 103.86

Looks like a little bit of updating has been done.

You can now copy and paste keywords by clicking the '...' at the end of the keyword field. Plus, the Location field has been put back.
Hopefully they will add the filter/keyword search field back in the Catalog Manager too.

One strange change for me is that the homepage of the app has stopped updating. It used to show what files were accepted/rejected and also at one point the first time a file sold. Now all it says is "start here to track progress"

And Getty doesn't take editorial video.
As far as I know it accepts. You need to apply for an editorial author.

SS is still making changes to the new system, and there's still access to the Legacy system, thank goodness.

HOW DO I FIND AN IMAGE in the NEW Catalog Manager, if I want to review or edit. There's No Search? Is there a way to create new sets, or only in the legacy system?

I'm trying to find one of my own images and Catalog Manager was the easiest way in the past. Especially since I could update the metadata while I was looking.

Has anyone found a way to change a video thumbnail in the new interface?

No, I haven't found a way to change thumbnail in the new interface, so I switch back to Legacy. But it's absolutely horrible when changing the thumbnail of a vertical video because you only get a horizontal section of the middle of the video.
