What's going on there? I've been waiting for a review of my latest batch for 4 days now.
I cannot even remember the times when SS took that long for reviews.
Anyone experience the same?
-
Here the same.
-
yap... here are 5 days :(
-
And meanwhile at 123RF I've had images pending since
February 1st....9 days and counting. :-\ Are they still dealing
with "get your 150 submissions approved before it's too late"
issues? Apparently.
-
7 days here, for vectors.

Lucky you;... my files on 123RF are pending from 01-27, and i don't see any chance to be approved in weekend ;D
back to the topic....

Was this addressed in the SS forums already?
Are there any details about what's happening? Obviously they reduced the manpower for reviews but is this temporary (vacation?) or is this going to stay like this?

What does a day or two matter? If you want your images up earlier then do your shoot, processing and uploading earlier.

It matters if we've gone years with most things being reviewed within the 72 hour window that SS has almost always maintained. If it takes a week and that's the new normal, that's fine. It's just unusual for SS, hence the discussion. It would be nice to know if anyone has heard anything from SS about this.
-
Answers from SS forum:
"Just a reminder: reviews can take up to 7 days. If you've been waiting longer than that, let me know and I'll look into it."
"Hi all, I'll check with the team but it's likely that our reviewers will be catching up on reviews soon."
"If your reviews are taking a bit longer, it's likely a matter of our reviewers working hard to keep up with all of our submissions. But we make sure that all submissions get the attention they deserve. Just let us know if it takes longer than 7 days and we'll check on that for you. Thanks!"

I don't even recall when my last reviews took longer than a day. And I'm not talking about 2 days or 3 days either.
This is just something I haven't experienced in years.
FYI, I produce, edit, upload on a daily basis. No option for me to "upload earlier".
-
My batch just got reviewed. So it sounds like we're looking at around a week for reviews now, based on what people are seeing and the comment in the SS forum. 6-7 days is indeed the new normal.

Sounds like you haven't been uploading much recently then. My images have been taking up to 4 days to review for about a month now. It takes another 2-3 days for approved images to be indexed into the search under 'Popular' and every sale takes another couple of days to have an effect on sort-order position. Basically it takes the best part of a week before newly uploaded images are fully searchable. Stock is a long-term business and returns are measured in years not days. Getting excited about reviews taking a day or two longer than usual is fairly pointless.

I have been uploading regularly and until now I have not had a waiting time of 4 days. Your mileage may vary.
Don't ask me how or why my uploads were processed/reviewed within 2 days or less but that was my experience.
-
Same for me...4 days.
Just remember there are likely a ton of exclusives bailing on istock that are probably swamping them.
-
There is a lot of concerned being voiced in the forums.
It seems to be wide spread. DT reviews are also causing concern. I noticed a post there about additional reviewers being added to the staff
-

That's my suspicion also Cathy.

Well I've just had a small batch of 3 images approved just 5 hours after I uploaded them. Maybe the reviewers like to deal with small batches?
-
Well I've just had a small batch of 3 images approved just 5 hours after I uploaded them. Maybe the reviewers like to deal with small batches?
Now, we're getting little close to the issue. As I wrote before, my (smaller) batches were recently approved within 24-48 hours.
My latest batch was about 30 images and now it's sitting in there for 4 days.
-
Some here must be fairly new to SS because i was asking and talking about this for over a year where some people were reviewed in a few hours after uploading days after i did and they were approved yet i had some waits upwards of ten days!
And then the response from the forumguru is a joke i wrote to her many times about it and all i got was the same thing about 7 days!
Normal times are supposed to run no more then 3 days but on average were around 2 unless you were one of a limited few who could get them approved in under three hours after your upload.
This is no way anywhere near a new problem but is an ongoing and progressively worsening issue that for some people think it is nothing just a glitch when in all actuality it appears to be a worsening bug.
I'll be glad to go find some of my old threads about this and or even the emails i sent out.

Batch size has nothing to do with it!
I have three waiting right now and they have been waiting for going on two days so that shoots down your theory of batch size.
It is a bug has to be.
The new TOS email they sent out yesterday, alot of people got within minutes of sending or within an hour while mine and others arrived today but said it was sent out yesterday?????
-
my files are in pending for 8 days now.... is just me or is something wrong with the review time?
-
I've been submitting batches of 20 images each night. Up until 3 days ago, they were reviewed by the following morning. Now I have three nights' worth waiting for review. Something is definitely up.
-
Not only review times have changed - before my images were reviewed in two groups - 1. vectors 2. jpg versions together with photographs.
Now raster illustrations are reviewed separately.
-

I would agree with that, as my batches were only 6-7 images.

Again.... this Mo i had the last image bunch review ( after waiting 8 days ) now are 5 days.... and nothing. what is happening there????
-
my images have been reviewed in normal, reasonable time - but ALL editorial images are now being rejected as 'bad composition', meaning they cant be resubmitted - seems like this is one way to avoid making their reviewers actually read their description of editorial - previously they would bulk reject anything that wasn't 'newsworthy, even though their descriptiob EXPLICITLY says not all editoruial is newsworthy
meanwhile, previouslty accepted editorial images [from over a year ago] continue to sell on SS, so i guess i should be glad SS is banning my competition!

Do any of you still suffer from long review period..? my 6 images (1 batch) are pending even after 6 days...

Yes, review time is a bit longer than usual for me as well currently

oh.. so do you keep on submitting new images even with a pending batch or you 1st wait for one pending batch to pass before submitting another ?

My last two batches were reviewed a few hours after I submitted them. The batch before that took 2 days.

It doesn't matter how many batches, but I try not to have too many images pending at any given time. My impression is that rejection rate is higher with too many (>50) pictures in queue. Not sure if it's real or just an impression.
-
You think 3 days is long ... what about Rodeo.fi then : I submitted a large batch in december, and it's not on-line yet!

And some time my large batch is accepted with less (<10%) rejection and some time more (even 80% for one batch). So i believe its on which editor you are getting. Though now i avoid large batches. Though i have no idea about sending another batch when there is already one in a queue. But Thanks for your advice.

Strange. What did their support say about this ? (did you contact then ?)
my last batch also did not appear online after its acceptance. I contacted their support and they came online. Dunno if it was because i contacted support but he told me that still there is some bug and they are trying best to remove it.
-
Yes, I got the same answer, but they're still not on-line (since December). Many of them are Spring and Easter images, so I suppose I can count these as lost ...

Oh thats really a bad news i heard about ss till date. I think you must keep on mailing them if that batch is really big with the images you think can sale well. Or else send the same batch again with a note to editor...!

Amazing. This makes entering microstock much more difficult for new contributors and drives up the competition for everyone. When I entered MS 5-6 years ago, it was easy to grow sales compared to today. Now I have to add 300-400 good images to get a $100 a month gain. That's a lot of work.

Prediction: The queue at SS will soon shrink the the waiting time will decrease.
Reason: SS has hired new reviewers.
Evidence: Last week I submitted 4 vectors to SS. It took twice as long as usual for them to be reviewed but 3 were rejected, all for incorrect reasons.
I'll resubmit them later and they will probably be accepted. If not, I will stop submitting at SS until they straighten things out. This has happened before. When these periods of bad reviews happen, it costs me money, and it costs SS more than it costs me.
Why can't SS train its new reviewers properly?

Not defending, just pointing out it's official now, not two days anymore. Those who get the short reviews are lucky, the rest of us are becoming normal. The part that surprised me was the 9 to 5 weekdays part. I thought outside reviewers worked when they could, on their own schedule. This seems kind of odd? No weekend review?
It would be very interesting to get an official confirmation as this quote comes from the SS forums.
-
meanwhile i see a constant rise in sale in IS for last few months though adding far lesser files.
-
meanwhile i see a constant rise in sale in IS for last few months though adding far lesser files.
I have the exact opposite issue. I used to make payout every month at IStock, haven't seen that in a year. My sales decline constantly there. My Shutterstock sales are taking off like crazy now.
Whereas it is my theory that 1) the Shutterstock backup is caused by everyone jumping ship at IS and flooding the SS queues, and 2) they have not hired new reviewers, that's why there's a backup.
Cowboy up there, cupcake, and handle the long review time.
-
its not that i have no sale at SS. I am still getting higher there but this month seems to be different. I just saw that i am earning a major portion from my oldest files in IS. Whereas in SS i am selling mostly new contents and just few sales here and there from old content. I would be much happier to see selling older contents and usual review period in SS.
-
They seem to have outsourced or at least restructured radically their review process. Longer review times are now part of the game and makes it unpredictable when the images go through. My longest wait so far was 6 days.
-
Almost 9 days and still waiting to be reviewed ....... What happened whit the reviewers on SS?
9 days is my personal best :(
-
Who cares, in the end these pathetic editors reject everything anyway, don't matter if it's your best selling subject or not. I suggest they go flip burgers.

I don't know if I got one of the new reviewers ornot, but my batch of thirteen was reviewed within 24 hours. I never got the e-mail notification of the ones selected and rejected. I discovered that they were reviewed by accident.
I happened to log into SS to see about something else conceerning one of my images. Well the pending bin was empty? So I went to "Status" and clicked on the "aI don't know if I got one of the new reviewers ornot, but my batch of thirteen was reviewed within 24 hours. I also went to the "Rejected Photos" tab to get the reasons for rejections. pretty nmuch the standard - "Focus or Focus not where it should be.."
So if you haven't heard anything, check the Pending Files. If that is empty, chect Accepted Photos and Rejected Photos tabs.
Good Luck!

Well thanks for taking the time to confirm that email is 100% real. 9-5 and no weekends. Looks like that combined review staff for the two agencies is actually in place.
Lets see, 9:31 PM on Friday, so that's no days, no days, no days... Monday and today is Tuesday. Makes it seem shorter, under the new rules, only count weekdays. Kind of like Alamy's clock, but I swear theirs stops at Noon on Friday! ;D
-
I still get images approved on weekends. My last one was approved on a Sunday. So, who knows.
I do know that iStock is now beating SS handily on approval times for me, which is kinda scary. My last two batches were approved at IS in 3 days, while my SS batches lingered for 7 days. Ah well. For me 1 week seems to be the new SS norm.

Yes IS reviewed my last batch withing 24hrs. Though my recent batch has crossed 24 hrs time.. may be within next 48 ( or 72 hrs). Meanwhile SS also reviewed few of my files today. Few more are still left pending.

for me 1 week approval time norm on SS is for about 5-6 weeks. :(
-
just got 2 batch reviewed at the same time, one was 8 days old the other just 5.
only 1 image rejected, but only because I've started experimenting with vectors and I've used effect (drop shadow) that I should not use.
-
Sent one editorial batch yesterday at 11pm, and was reviewed during this morning. Had an issue with all captions :D
Anyway, fast as usually.
But I notice that i didn't receive any email regarding review ( as usually ) and images still on front page as "images still for reviewing".
So, check Your "Status of Submitted Images". It apperas to be the only page updated regarding submissions.

I usually upload over the weekend, I just upload all the photos I've post processed over the week and it usually takes up to 8h to review them. It's been 24h and still nothing...I'm used to waiting longer if I UL during weekdays. Easter holidays already? But then again, the volumes of ULs should be lower as well (not just the number of inspectors)

My last batch took 4 days to be reviewed ( all accepted so.. ;D ). Now I send my images on middle of each week.
Anyway, I've sent same batch to all agencies ( 15 ) on same day, and only CS ( some hours ) and Alamy ( 2 days ) were "on time". All the rest appear to be on holidays.... sometimes Veer reviews appear to be faster LOL
Better days will come. ;D

When it comes to others, FT is also behind regular review time, DT takes 5 days anyway, but IS is currently reviewing them, since I posted them as I retouched them (no sense in waiting to send a batch since they don't have a great batch editor like SS)

just be patient.
I can't see any difference if my images are approved today or the day ofter tomorrow or next week, as long as they are reviewed and sell ;)

I don't understand why people are panicking about this. These week long reviews have been going on for quite a while now, and have been mentioned many times both here and in the SS forum.
It's just the way things are at the moment. Chill peeps! :)

I'm so impatient when I upload a couple of series I like (like I did during the weekend), because of 2 reasons. First, will I get a 100% AR on that batch and secondly how will they sell in the first few days at SS.
-
I know it's frustrating, and it breaks your usual rhythm. I felt that way too when it first happened, but it's been going on for quite a while now and has affected so many people.
Impatience isn't good for a creative mind, and there's nothing you can do to change it... so relaaaax about that and start working on the next shoot ;)
-
I am used with 1 week review time (although it is frustrating) ..... its happening for over 2 months.

The thing is, it rarely happened to me and I can't remember the last time it did (but I know that I waited for over 72h on a couple occasions). Yeah, now I can see that, reading through this thread.
You're absolutely right. But I'm not a patient man. Sometimes, even most times I can bring myself to be patient, to not care, since there's nothing you can do etc, but I'm having trouble this time, also because I uploaded my first batch in weeks. I made myself a couple of triple gin tonics yesterday, I'm going to have to repeat that this evening and enjoy watching champion's league. That should do the trick and ease up my mind :)
ETA they're online! ;D
-
Woot Wut! ;D
-
The best thing is, new files are already selling like hotcakes! ;D
U see now, why was I so impatient! Wow, I'm gonna be drunk from celebrating today, tons of ODs and an EL already (not from new files, but it doesn't matter)
-
Don't get me wrong... I understand the impatience... it's just that when there's a hold-up it can drive you crazy. In which case it's better to practice patience rather than go nuts ;)
Congrats on the sales!

Indeed. I should start to practice some meditating techniques ;)
Tnx. I hope April sales won't dry up, like most ppl say they will.

I finally contacted them last night after waiting 2 weeks for my oldest images to get reviewed and got the same message about my photos submitted on the 4th - technical glitch, delete and resubmit. They didn't comment about my images submitted on the 7th and 8th so I wrote back and I'm waiting for a response. After seeing your response I'm wondering if they're going to tell me to delete and resubmit those too. Looks like there was a good reason to be concerned about reviews taking more than a week.

I finally did that after waiting two weeks for some images uploaded on the 4th and I was told there was a glitch in my upload that kept them from moving to the review que and they needed to be deleted and uploaded again. I just saw over at MSG that someone had the same response to images uploaded on the 7th. You might find you have the same problem.

Hello,
Thank you for your email.
Unfortunately there was an issue transferring the images from 4/9 and earlier
to our review queues, and did not make it to the actual review queue (even
though your account says it did).
The only solution is to remove these images from your "Status of Submitted
Photos" and resubmit them.
We are very sorry for the inconvenience.
GREAT!

Is there really a reason to worry about review times?
I don't spend even a second thinking about this. It has no real effect on sales. OK, maybe I miss .38 here or there because a pic got up a day or two later. Oh boy.
There are far bigger problems going on in the world... heck, there are far bigger problems going on in the microstock world... to worry about whether it takes 3 or 5 or 7 days for my newest batch to get added to my port.
SS has never given me a reason not to trust them. More than anyone aside from my full time employer, SS has allowed me to live a very comfortable life. They are fair, a market leader who is well-loved by its customers, and transparent in all the areas they need to be.
Let's give them a break and let them catch up.

we can all have our opinion in all subjects thats a fact but actually we were used to 24h/48h reviews at SS, nothing against waiting a few more days, my point is that they could have told us about this bug before, like a few days after people start talking, files from the 4th, thats 16 days..

Wow, things have really slowed down. I've had some images sitting in the queue for several days - I almost forgot about them.
-
I wonder if SS had another glitch? I have a batch pending since April 23. I don't think I've ever had to wait so long.
-
My experience tells me they must have a new policy and it goes like this:
If Ruby submits on a Friday, give a one day review so that it's up for sale on Saturday.
If Ruby submits on a Monday, give a six day review so that it's up for sale on Saturday.
etc.
I'm not paranoid though... :D
-
My reviews have been consistently running between 1 and 2 days. I would not be surprised if the slow downs are related to the work they have been doing on the site/servers.

Funny = when I was reading the four days, I thought, wow that's fast. Everything I send in gets reviewed and goes live on Friday, just in time for the weekend. ;D

I had a batch approved last night in under an hour... at the same time, they approved the prior night's batch as well. I think it's just a matter of getting your stuff in when someone's plate is clear... and that's impossible to predict.
Frankly, I don't worry about review times... it's such a waste of energy and ultimately doesn't matter. But this batch was so lightning quick I figured I'd share this to prove things aren't going downhill at SS after all.

Is there really a reason to worry about review times?
Anyone think its just a coincidence that the review times have gone from less than 48 hours, to almost a week, and they are floating an IPO soon?
Seems obvious at the very least that they have laid off reviewers, since the # of pics approved over the last few weeks has not really not up from the historical norm. Are they trying to improve the look of their bottom-line?
-
I don't worry about review times but when they extend well beyond the norm I'll send an e-mail inquiry to see if there was a problem with the upload queue. That ended up being the case with images uploaded to SS in early April. After 10 days I sent an e-mail about images and was told there was a glitch and to delete and resubmit. I did that and a few days later all waiting images were reviewed. The funny thing is, even the images deleted 3 days earlier had been accepted! They accepted both the deleted images and the resubmitted version of the same. I ended up deleting the later set after I had a sale on one of the original images. That verified that they were live in my portfolio so I kept the group that sold.

It's about 3-6 days now days. Sometimes it's 3 and then it's 5 days. It seems it just may be the new normal.

Frustrating ... I have some editorial stuff waiting for 8 days!!!

Are you talking about photos or illustrations ?
They have separate teams for reviewing these 2 things.

Are any of you getting illogical trademark rejections? I mean there were none left I doublecheked the files. And I've had identical photos, just with a different model accepted a couple of months ago. And the first part of this series a few days ago. I pointed that out when I resubmitted the images and they've all been rejected for tm issues and what's even worse all of the photos from 2 other series. Needles to say they've been accepted on all the other sites. That's what you get for being a "smartass". Because they don't make mistakes. And it's not the first time it happened either, I just never pointed out the accepted photos/batches. It's so unprofessional to take it out on someone else for your own mistakes

Update....
I have 40 images waiting for two weeks. Now SS is reviewing only a part of my submitted photos once/week. Yesterday i had 95 images waiting to be reviewed ( uploaded last week ) and only 47 were reviewed... :(
