Title: SS selling images almost a month after I disabled my Portfolio!?
Post by: Bart on June 30, 2020, 20:08
Just got notification of 2 images sales at #Shutterstock (#sstk) nearly a month after I disabled all my images!?!? Am I missing something or anything goes at SS??

Send them an e-mail questioning this action.

“Please note that I’m seeing unauthorized image sales today. I chose to stop ALL of my images sales and disabled my image portfolio at Shutterstock on June, 7.”

Anyone else have this happen, anyone ever audit their disabled images (have another person in different region/country contact and request a disabled image)?? If they are neglecting our wishes and selling images we disabled then I smell a class Action 🤷🏼‍♂️

If clients got comp images to use in projects, and now they want to buy licenses, yes, SS will sell them. It’s in the agreement.

I simply don’t trust SS anymore
They can do all kinds of sneaky things, and how will we ever know what they’re really up to?
Someone else complained of this on SS forum, where they’ve removed one of their top images Only to find out that it’s been sold sometime after the fact

I had 'added to 5 collections today' notification for one image couple days ago... I disabled my portfolio on June 10. I really hope that just thumbnail remained somewhere and that buying won't be possible

Same here. I disabled my images on june 3rd and had a sale this morning.

They asked my permission to sell a video and i told them "no" in the middle of june but i had no email for this sale.

Its possible the client had already bought it and redownloaded it (which is in the terms and conditions).

Read the terms and conditions. SS can license your work for 90 days after you've disabled it (what they consider "a reasonable period") to people who've downloaded your work under the free "comp" (comprehensive) license.

What I find appalling is that at first they were emailing people and asking their permission to re-enable their ports because a buyer requested an image, but now they're just selling the work without bothering to ask. Of course, because we accepted their one-sided terms they have that right, but along with Oringer's tweets to take your work and leave, it just goes to show their true feelings about all the hands that feed them.

I got a SOD for $54.10 this morning on a deleted image, not complaining, but as far as I'm aware you can only find out what images they are selling if you don't close your account for 90 days at least.

It has happened to me too, and the most ironic thing is that they pay more for these unauthorized downloads than for the normal ones. My account will be suspended forever.
