Hi all,
I guess I also need some help with the initial SS submission.  I was particularly suprised with the second application rejection--since all images were properly plastified in Neat Image.  Perhaps I am selecting too many landscapes... I would greatly appreciate it if you can give me some tips on which photos to submit.  I am attaching a link to my istock portofolio, since they seem to me to be the second toughest reviewers after SS.  Thanks for all your hep in advance.http://www.istockphoto.com/file_search.php?action=file&userID=1066046

Hi roman.

My initial application to SS was rejected for 'too many similar images' so perhaps that is the problem.

BTW I zoomed in on one of your 'baby boy' shots and I could see clear evidence of too much noise reduction; so much, in fact, that the image looks blurred (to my eye anyway).

I am new to this game, but I never use noise reduction, ever.  If I find an image with noise at source I reject it.  It is possible to shoot with correct exposure and eliminate noise, and that is what I try to do. FWIW I have had no rejections from IS or StockXpert on quality issues.

Hope this helps.

Incidentally, I suspect that IS and SS have already reached the stage where they can afford to become 'more selective' on accepting new contributors.  Im my view it will become more and more difficult for 'ordinary photographers' to gain entry to those agencies.

Hi Roman,

You have quite a nice collection of wild animals, very inspiring.

Keep trying, Roman, but make sure your initial submission is very varied.  It took me 3 tries (and I had to wait 3 months in between tries before they lowered the time to 30 days).  It's worth it!

If you have any half way decent illustrations they are pretty much a free ticket in. I have a 91% acceptance rate on Shutterstock because everything I submit are illustrations. The few rejections that I have gotten are because of submitting too similar images.

Roman ....Hang in there...  the advice about diverse subjects is very good when trying to get onto SS.  I myself have yet to apply to IS so I can say  anything about them.  But SS.........  I think most here had been initially rejected there 1, 2 or more times.   If I remember correctly, I got shot down 2 or 3 times before getting in the club.  Noise was my killer.  Now, I rarely get rejected for noise.  Keep the faith!   8) -tom
