another million contributor who addd 90 millions image daily so the median revenue for contributor will be 1 dollar month....sure keep adding contributor just to have more files to sell for 25 cent of royalty...keep adding ss. unfortunately when most of instagrammer realize there is no cash to be made with idiot post  they will put all images on micro stock. instead of cleaning the collection for all the garbage added in the last years please add another billion images....WE NEED it.
At least most of instagram are much better than 90% of contributor added in the last year. at least.

"So, showing business people greeting each other by shaking hands might not make sense in Asia where it is customary to bow.
Should be 'some parts of Asia'.
In other parts of Asia it's not at all customary to bow.
Doesn't engender confidence that they have a clue.

One of a kind. Highlight the individuality that got you a following on Instagram and create images that cant be found anywhere else.

Ehm... Hot male/female bodies??

Am I the only one who throws up a little in my mouth every time I see one of SS "inspirational" posts?

Some interesting takeaways....

$800,000,000 paid to 550,000 contributors averages ~$1455 each. The slices keep shrinking especially if you aren't enterprise or offset.

All of their example images are from Offset.

Rafa Fernandez and Canvan images are using the same bicycle and backdrop

No your not but its par for the course in modern marketing speak. Among one of the many annoying things for me is the pretence that Shutterstock wants to be my friend. Its a business arrangement and as for the term "reach out" makes me want the sick bucket everytime.

Actually its making me wonder whether I should ditch Shutterstock and look into Instagram. I'm not sure an overweight middle aged white bloke would be the right profile to be a major influencer though

Sneaky way for them to tell the truth and hide the facts: "By submitting your photos and videos to Shutterstock, youll be joining a community of 550,000 contributors who create content that our customers depend on. Because of our contributors, we have a library of 245 million images and 13 million footage clipsand growingwith more than 1.5 million assets added weekly."

Of the 550,000 contributors, roughly 30,000 are active at all. Other data in the past, shown that under 10% of all "contributors" had more than zero images. Forward description means 90% of the people who have signed up, have zero images. A smaller percentage have 1,000 or more images.

However, saying that there are 550K contributors, who upload 1.5 million images a week, should warn anyone reasonable that the competition will bury you.

Was it ever really a community? More a bunch of self applauding group of people thinking they had invented the wheel and not realizing the wheel had been invented years earlier. It must be a total joy kill to think you are so special only to realize you are not - won't mention names here. At least Bruceeee escaped with 50 million - such commitment to the community. The ultimate sucker punch.
