I just upload some 62 files yesterday (no MP restriction) but im sending it today (4MP restriction), most vector files are under 4MP, so i want to see if any of these files are rejected due to this issues.

My latest reviewed file now was sended on april 6 and reviewed on april 8, approved file under 4MP, i also upload some files (under 4MP) today to see if the are rejected due to this.

Any one have the first rejection due to 4MP issue??

Your title implies you already have your files rejected, it's kinda misleading.

Did they implement this today or not? You'd think they might have backed off... you know because it was a pretty ill-conceived idea.

I start this topic to know this. The only way to know is if someone who upload a file (less that 4MP) gets rejection or approved...

I still waiting my files for review...

No rejection > I have stopped uploading vectors on Shutterstock and I will not upload more until the story is clear

I don't get what the fuss is  :-X  Just make your artboard bigger and scale everything up. Adobe Stock has a minimum of 15 MP.

I'm guessing they are implementing this so buyers can purchase a decent quality JPEG from the vector file, otherwise it will be too small.

The problem is that there is a 50MP maximum limit. So when they scale up, they just can't upload...
And even if they would remove the limit, there are complex works which with new rules will be 500MB, 1,5GB etc.

This is insane, I'm so sorry for illustrators :/

Yeah but the file limit on AS is 45MB so it's the same issue. I don't think complex vectors should be submitted as vectors, but as JPEG illustrations - and each element within the complex artwork should be submitted as vectors. Otherwise you're giving away too many things for the same price.

Giving away too much for the same price is driving the sales down, like people selling sets of 100, 200, 600, 800, 1500x icons [insert your category]. Instead of having a buyer buy 100 different vectors, they can now just buy one, with subscription service, and have them all.

I'm not into technical side of it... so not sure why Adobe isn't a problem and SS is.

But the examples which illustrators were showing on SS forum weren't sets, it could be one element, just created with complex technique.

Adobe has two options - zip file with eps (any size) + jpg of min 15MP or standalone eps with 15MP. Shutterstock wants to keep only one option - min. 4MP eps.

I am contributor and buyer as well and I can tell you that working with vectors bigger than 1500px is just annoying to put it nicely. I usually work with 100% or bigger magnification for precision and if I want to change anything - even change one point on a curve I soon run out of screen space, even on 4k screen.

File size matters mainly because loading complex shadows, blends, various overlay modes takes much, much longer with bigger eps files - for both contributors and buyers.

Also, who wants to download and store gigabytes of vectors -  extra money for internet connection and storage, again for everyone - contributors, buyers and even Shutterstock.

That's why it makes very little sense to implement this change.

Ah ok thanks, that makes sense.

The file sizes alone make for a tedious upload process. The no keywords seems like a huge issue. Every time I've accidentally keyworded an eps 8 file, it breaks it. Not sure if the same is true for eps 10. Although, I don't think Lightroom even imports eps files. So, that's another issue that they didn't even bother to address. Are we going to have to copy and paste all our keywords? Then, there is the whole cmyk thing. I kind of see vector files as print files because of their scalability, so saving them as rgb seems kind of counter to what most buyers might want. I'm mystified who actually wanted this change. It really doesn't make much sense.

I'm thankful that I'm not actively contributing because there is no way I'd even bother with this. So, I guess I can grab my popcorn and watch the show over the next few weeks as this train wreck starts.

Hello design art buddies.

Are you having trouble uploading a vecter for shutterStock?
Quickly converts small pixel ‐ sized vector art to 4.5 MP.
