what do you do?

Upload as usual, hope it changes.
Upload as much as possible, something has to sell.
Stop uploading, everything gets buried anyway.

Just wondering. Given the disastrous sales this month and most of last.

Depends on what you could do with the time "saved" instead even SS "tanked" is better than all but 2/3 other sites doing well ;-). As I find uploading there reasonably straightforward I plough on. I upload to sites on a priority basis SS still no 1 for me.

I feel completely depressed
I shout and cry
I am bad with people around me (more than usual)
I stop to feed the cat (in fact i eat cat's food)

Then I decide to go to work to McDonald's

This generally longs one or two weeks, until I get a bunch of big sales putting again my average balance on the right level

You are not alone ! ;) SS is very very quiet this month, Fotolia/adobe : totally dead, Getty/iStock :  I don't know (...) , just Dreamstime seems still alive and, some middle stocks like 123rf are even better than fotolia with far less images...

Maybe it's because of the major internet outage in Somalia   ;)

I'm uploading Game of Thrones themed-stuff, considering they just released their season 7!

Uploading to a place where everything gets buried in gazillion of files?  well seems rather crazy to me. Must be other hobbies to pursue. Watching paint dry or something.

Upload as usual but it will not change.
Uploading as much as possible strategy died out a few years back- only upload top quality images. SS doesn't need more average images.
Stop uploading and your dead for sure..

I'll write you if that ever happens. After ten years I find my sales are still growing.

I dread looking at my SS stats now. Yesterday and today are the worst ever. To think I used to excitedly check every five minutes to see my new sales. :(

This week I had three $7 download days with almost 5000 assets. I only go in now once a day or so now.  Just disgusts me that one tweak of the search and half my income is gone.

This is finally motivating me to work on other ways to sell my photos.  Would be great to ditch microstock one day, it was fun a decade ago but none of the sites have made it possible for me to have a sustainable income.  So there's no choice other than delving in to other options.

This is a good point.  When the critical mass is spiraling down it is next to impossible beat it in its own bubble.  Looking for alternatives is certainly what I am doing as well.  I have little technical knowledge (web design, shopping carts, etc.) which is keeping me at bay until I figure out how to move forward with alternative strategies. RM is but one avenue but I am getting into motion graphics with sliders and holy grail type time lapses, but it's expensive and time consuming.  I enjoy it but have a day job too.

Mantis,
I have read several post from you in the past and I was under the impression that you were mostly in video

Nope. I do both.  I have about 3800 images and 1300 videos (mix of video, animations and time lapse).

I believe a couple of years ago I read that you had more than a 1000 video.
I have always appreciated your posts as a very sensible person (rare thing in forum).
But I would have thought you had at least 3000 now

Me too but life changes have slowed down my production.  Couple of deaths and a move really have impacted my time to create content.  Two weeks ago was the first time I shot commercial images.  Funny, I was just thinking of doing a couple of week video shoot road trip.  I still might but have to dial in some time for myself.  I will tell you that my plan WAS to double my collection in two years, but life just happens.
