So far I am better off with the new price structure of SS, in spite of many 10 to 17 cent sales.

Why should I boycot SS or even close my account? Why not accepting the 10 cent sales? I do, and I dont care what will happen next year, because nobody can forsee the future.

You have already made your position clear in other threads. You LOVE Shutterstock.  You make more with the royalty cut.  We've heard you before.  Now, me personally, I don't believe a thing you say, but why do you insist on continuing to troll this forum?

I too am sooooooo much better off. Now that I make $0.67/clip it almost pays for the electricity to charge my camera batteries.

Enjoy

For many its called self respect - seeing their work sold for dimes is an insult, so they have made a decision to not making it available to be sold for those amounts

Others dont mind being told their work is only worth pennies, and are happy to keep making and selling their work

Even if SS eventually goes to paying $0.05 or lower, I am convinced there will still be those who contribute - and all they are doing is lining the pockets of the higher ups - because they will never work for pennies

You get Exactly what you allow others to dictate to you

You're right but self-respect and dignity is hard to come by for 10c a picky!..what many don't understand is that if we accept 10c a sale the next will be 5c a sale and so on. In the end we might as well give them away

In 2016 "Josephine" was in the micro stock business either 3 years or 5 years, depending on what she felt like claiming that day. Then in 2017 she was in 5 years again. Then in 2018 anyone who'd been in the business for 7 years was old and out of new ideas, even though if, in 2016, she'd actually been in the business for 5 years, by 2018 she would have been in the business 7 years and would have been old and out of new ideas herself, by her reckoning.

Now she's making more money with a royalty cut. Or is it less money? Three times more, five times more, three times less, five times less? Seven times more or less when she runs out of ideas? Who knows.

I am very lucky. I am in the business since three years.

I make a living on micros since 5 years.

sorry to tell you, the sales are great since a couple of months, the sales are getting better and better. I am with them since 5 years.

old are those, who are in the Microstock business for more than 7 years.  They ran out of new ideas. And they remember the golden days.

Personally, I don't give a rat's patootie whether "Josephine" is delighted with the prospect of making $.10 per sale. She can have it.

PS for those who are not totally familiar with colloquial American English, "a rat's patootie" means the same as a rat's a$$ (except the dollar signs are letters instead). :D

I see almost no difference between 10 cents and free, so I am out. I am putting my work up for free on my own site. If I can't make money from my photos, I don't see why an agency should while I get almost nothing.

Actually, we can foresee the future. On Jan. 1, whatever level you are at, you will go back to the bottom level. So will most every other contributor. So you will make even less pennies per image. But apparently YOU are special, and you will make even more money overall. 👍

Nobody will upload quality work because Josephine loves her 10 cents.

She will also be thrilled with 1 cent. Or even be ready to pay SS for the honor of having her work downloaded...

She should be grateful that the quality content is leaving SS. She then has less competition and her sales will increase!!

Win win for Josephine!

If you are single I seriously recommend @stockphotofan1 on Twitter.

You can live happily ever after taking snapshots of lampposts, pigeons and crosswalks on the way to the store.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if on January 1 the minimum payout amount will be raised from $35 to $5,000. I guess that would thrill Josephine even more. But as long as she's happy, who am i to judge?

Quite possibly the finest portfolio I have ever seen.

Just for curiosity, how many people here have or had a 50k plus portfolio in SS?

Just a tiny 22K+ portfolio.
And, recently my SS is up, but AS is down.
What's wrong with me?
Fortunately, my total microstock sales follow a widely accepted downhill trend,
so I am not "Josephine" yet.  ;)
