So, I just read the wish for 2015 thread. Funny. Do we have a wish or a list of wishes for 2016?

No more lowering of commissions, sneaky or otherwise.

No more super-size, watermark-free "previews" or "freebies" or anything else.

- FT coming up with a better way to upload vectors.
- IS coming up with a better way to upload anything.
- DT to stop rejecting photos that are similar and vectors they think are too simple.
- No unlimited download websites popping up.
- And obviously...bigger success.

Financial independence, so I don't have to worry about all the things the previous posters mentioned ;D

In 2016, I wish everyone that works at any type of image based agency at all levels (especially senior level) go through mandatory 3 month full time course where they need to produce, upload, keyword and sell images/ vectors/ videos just to see how it is to be a contributor in this industry so that real changes can be made like wage earnings and the perceived value of the commodity they are licensing out.
The hedge fund managers or any other player with real financial stake in this industry must go through this training for 2 years thank you. ;)

yes, it's like the same in music where the "best teachers" are really the worst musicians.
..and it is no wonder that today we see so many technicians and speed freaks in guitar music..jazz, rock,whatever..you call it. everyone sounds the same.
like many years ago, some music critic actually reviewed many of today's great grandfathers of music and called it rubbish.
i wonder also, that reviewers must provide a proof of 20 20 vision and not color blind.
of course, they have to take a test to know how to calibrate their monitors too, or else we see
them rejecting left right & center from wrong wb or composition or anything that has a shadow as poor lighting.
but i won't hold my breath .. or your wish to happen. they would have to sack everyone 8)

I say forget microstock. It's over, for now.
What I'd like to see in 2016 is a new POD site that will give FAA some serious competition. I think the opportunity is there; FAA is a dated, clunky concept that isn't going anywhere and has no vision for the future except to push more t-shirt sales. One suggestion I have is: develop a new matting/framing system, lightweight and collapsible, maybe some minimal assembly by the user. Traditional glass and wood are just too expensive to ship and that's a big barrier to online print sales.
Along with that new POD site - or as part of it - some new path to promoting your work online. Let's face the reality that FB and Twitter are no longer worth bothering with. Some new marketing concepts have to take their place.

This doesn't matter. As long as we, the creators, are willing to supply the content for minimal compensation that is what we will get. No business is going to say-oh the perceived value of this work is much higher than we are paying-so we will pay more.
The key word here is "commodity." If our work product is a "commodity" than the image sellers will compete on price because that's the diffentiator with commodities. Can we/you/I find a way to differentiate our work so people will pay more? Hard to say and I am guessing those that have found a way are keeping that secret to themselves.
