i am afraid i wont exceed 10 downloads today. its that bad

not sure how to tackle this but i guess uploading more isnt going to help much.

the pie is shared amongst to many people, ss is doing great, but it my motivation is gone.

I got 1 download over the weekend. Pretty demotivating.

I got Zero downloads over the weekend and only (two) today.  What's going on and why is Shutterstock rating at 73.1 percent?

How many files do you have at SS?

I expected for sales of the second week of May to get back to normal, but my Monday was even worse than the last weekend and the 1st of May. Tuesday was slow too, saved by my first ever video sale (I have only 4 unedited embarassing clips in my port :D).

Mainly because it's the 'Microstock Poll Results', not the 'OscarWilliams Microstock Poll Results'.

lana, i have thousands of files , photos(most), videos and illustrations, i dont want to give away any details identifying me, agencies are prone to retaliate

anyway, i made exactly 10 dls today

mantis, those big ones used to keep my figures up, theyre also gone now, overall i am down 50% on ss, just like sean.

I have been on ss for many years but the last two months have been quite bad just a few dls. I am 50% down my average. I am worried and for the moment i have stopped uploading.

I used to reckon 25 or so DLs per day. Less than 20 was a bad day.
Now I struggle to get 10.

Another factor is that SpaceStockFootage does video. I suspect that the situation with video is not the same as for photos, or illustrations - micro-markets within the overall market for stock imagery.

If the growth is slowing (which it is overall even according to the public numbers) that may be a mix of varying levels of ups and downs across media types and e-commerce vs. enterprise customers.  Given the single earning number on the right, it just can't capture all that (in addition to lots of people not filling out that poll).

I'm curious do you still upload elsewhere? Even at lower levels I would have thought it would still be worth uploading to SS in comparison to most sites?

my EL & OD sales have increased on SS, but that means monthly numbers have wild swings of +/- 50% around a 6 mo running average - to be expected with such sales

overall SS sales are above equivalent range of 6 mo last year; unless you have very high volumes (1000s per month) comparing single weeks or even months is not going to be statistically valid -- too many variables

Absolutely. I get a lot more per sale, but I also get a lot less sales than I would if I had a massive portfolio of images, rather than a small portfolio of videos. My only point was that two people complained about low sales in this thread, and that prompted Oscar (based on having poor sales as well) to feel that the 73.1 rating for Shutterstock was incorrect... even though 158 people filled out the poll.

Yes, as the thread has gone on, more people have posted regarding their sales, but it's still a way off the 158. If 75 or 100 people were saying they'd had really bad sales, then I too would be questioning the score, but there's not a big enough sample size for me to be worried at this point.

New uploads get absolutely no exposure and its just pot luck if one would sell. Now to me thats worse then a bad days take. Agencies like DT and DP have increased a lot and not to speak of the macro agencies. Might just have something to do with that??

i had a good start of month..then last week is very low..in all agency.
thanks i shoot some in news for dreamstime and i pulled a good amount of dollar with zero work, that keep balance up compared to last year

what surprises me of ss is no matter how i do, uploading much more oriented stock content, like lifestyle model food, i was more travel editorial till march 2016, i cannot move on from the amount of 29 download per day. still i have 25 daily this month, with less than 4000 images and mostly editorial.

i shoot lot of lifestyle content last week. the best i'll keep for when stocksy open again , but i have prepared 1000 good content with model, i hope this will improve sales but i'm not positive. too many images contributor.

Very poor sales today, I have not even crossed 20% of the daily I receive.

johnbull!  SS is just too flooded nowadays and even if you would upload the very best most commercial material in the world it would still be drowned by some 140 million files!  its an unbelievable amount and whats the use of adding to that?   its like throwing petrol over a fire.

well maybe you are right...but i was selling practically only new files.
i worked in a country where my cost of production are so low and the aultiy of model is so high that for me is a pleasure and anyway good for day to day work. personally this year i'm up to 30 % compared to last year, and i improved this uploading more content oriented towards food and lifestyle.
today i had 48 download in ss. not a lot compared to 2011 2012 but compared to last year more than double the day medium.

No ELs.
Barely any ODDs.
No SODs over $1.
Record low number of DLs.

This is truly dire...... :(

May last year single and other sales over $300, this year $13 so far.  Such a shame, a few of those big sales a month made a huge difference.
