I can't be the only one who doesn't find it strange that there are lots of contributors from the 9th biggest population in the world?
so we shouldnt complain that with 150 milion file is difficult to sell....bevause of 150 million more than half come from there, thats the point.
So why there are so few indian and china contriboutor, 3 billion people.

Now i will pay some designer in kiev, 300 dollar could be enough for them for months, to investigate this and produce content, this niche seems unspoilt.

You can complain all you want. What's the point? Close down the internet?

You live with the global competition or you find something else to do.

In China large parts of the internet are closed and they have Chinese copies of almost every big website.

I see plenty of Indian contributors.

Could be a good plan until they find out they would make 10 times more selling it directly themselves.

so we can close this forum.....s not about complaint. is about reality. indian account for 0,5% of russia producer maybe even less.
i have a raise in earning this year, i simply underline that for some category, food and lifestyle is difficult to to spamming of images.
persoanlly i hope we go back to strictly limit of uploading and control of quality.
personally i have already decide to go their way. produce thousand of files, where it  cost penny, use talents in these country in those category i dont' have skill, like design and animation.
i have already a business plan, and all the people. i will employ 12 people from september, whose salary will cost no more than 2 skilled designer in america probably. at the beginning will cost a bit in terms of investment, but it will repay easy, and for me is the only way to earn good money, who are not 2000 dollar month.

Thats it!!  In Russia, Ukraine, Philipines, Poland 10 bucks a day goes a long way so they dont need to work too much but spend their time uploading, uploading and thats it! we who live in much more expensive countries etc cant really do that.

Russia is nowhere near as cheap as you think. Maybe do a bit of research? $10 doesn't get you far in Russia and you won't get by for an hour in Moscow.

Clothing and shoes are much more expensive in Russia for example, just like most countries compared to the US.

You're just throwing out random numbers based on feelings... That is beyond pointless.

I have not been to Russia but I have been here:

That's great and all, but what is your point in all of this? It's not going to stop contributors from all over the world from uploading. Every new upload gets buried in the search results until someone start downloading it. That's the reality for every contributor, not just you. SS isn't made for just you, it's a platform for everyone.

Complaining about other contributors...and I think we have some Russian contributors here, isn't going to change anything. It won't make your images sell better or improve your search results. It accomplishes nothing.

we are trying to understand why zero download from somebody who never had this. this is one of the consideration that must be done. as i said i already spend most of year in a country of soviet era...paying low salary, producing like pressfoto, and hope to enjoy a new era of earning, in september i will open my house of producionat low cost.

That's good for you. But what is there to understand? If someone gets 3 downloads the previous day and then get 0, the difference is only 3. If someone has 100 downloads a day and the next day is 0, then it's real problem.

There are 125 Million images on there. There's a lot of competition. The only thing we can all do is understand why our work doesn't sell as well as others and find ways to improve it.

I think most people recognize the extent of competition these days - from all over the world. The issue is how to respond. While we can do our best to do better/more and generally adapt, it is very hard to tell if a strategy is working, not least because of the huge quantity of images being submitted/accepted which bury new content.

And then a simple tweak to an algorithm can just wipe us out.

I'm neither happy nor sad about it. It's a fact of life and I work with it.

Mosquitos and ticks exist. I'm not too happy about it but it's a fact of life and I live with it.

You can live (quite OK) on $40 per day in almost any country. In Sweden that's what students live (a bit less) on and they have quite a bit of money left over to party and travel...

---

Average income and cost of living is NOT the same thing. Americans have a much higher average income compared to their cost of living, which means they have lots of extra money to consume things they don't need. That is not the case for Russia which means that online alternatives might be better for them.

We were discussing cost of living here. Not average income. They are not the same!

You also need to look at cheaper cities in the US then, like Memphis for example.

Things like gym membership and clothing are cheaper in Memphis. Even owning a car. Utilities same level. Only rent is significantly more expensive.
