Hello Admin and friends,
I am interested to know about the pole in different sections (like we get for micro sites) for Macro sites as well like alamy, getty corbis etc (though these 3 are of main concern )..
I would be quite interesting to see results and will be helpful for macro site (so for editorial photography) lovers.
I also encourage to include more sections also for the poles...
Do share your thoughts about this...! :)

I wouldn't be interested.

1) this is MICROstockgroup.com

2) a lot of us here started by contributing to the micros, took the time to learn about the business, then through hard work and perserverance, researched the macro market, contacted them through traditional means (snail mail and telephone calls) and marketed our portfolio to them.  When I started to contribute even to Alamy, we had to send CDs of 48 mb TIFF files via the postal service so they could be added to the collection.

Let's not crowd source the macros - there are too many agencies already not accepting new photographers.  Sorry, but my thoughts are there has to be at least one barrier to entry in this industry.

Interesting, kind of like things going full circle, where the whole advantage of Micros and Crowdsourcing was, no stuffy, close club type agencies. Now it's coming back again. ???

Are the agencies not accepting any new, or just allowing the select few who are known and recognized?

If Alamy was added I think less people would be interested in joining, considering the wide fluctuations. Also some people would be $0 one month and $200 the next. It doesn't lend itself to the same scale as the micro poll.

I made $0.50 with alamy last month, one novel use sale.  I agree that the fluctuations are too big for the poll results, they either seem to make almost nothing or more than most of the micros.

Doesn't count until you cash out? LOL I know, Micro people count monthly sales, before it reaches payout, so you'd click $0 anyway.

So what do I do on Alamy, if we had it. I have $114 in paid sales. $114.28 in downloads, unpaid sales. What if those people don't pay, do I subtract it from some other month?

Too complicated, it doesn't fit the system.

I'm not sure what you mean.  The Microstock model is based on crowdsourcing images - it has been since the beginning.  That's what it was about.  There are MANY small Rights Managed agencies that are not accepteding new artists.  Not really "close club" agencies - they just feel they have enough images to work with and the talent necessary to address their customer's needs.  There are also larger agencies thathave closed to new contributors as well - but I'm sure they'd make an exception for exceptional work.

It's a different business model.

Thanks that's what I meant. Closed and not accepting new, is as close to a good old boys club as it gets. I'm sure they would accept someone new who had a portfolio that they wanted to sell. ;) New people without friends or references, need not apply.

No. Your grace period is over. You have been milking this forum for several days, and basically we all are competitors. Many posters were very good-hearted to share their best advice, but you keep asking and asking and asking. You will need to do your own research from now on, as you can read more and more from the reluctant responses. I have been too good too to share some advice, also in private. To no avail. Once again do your own research and be happy.

I would appreciate adding getty, corbis, stockfood etc...because for me it is just an image market. the prices on the micros are no longer "micro" and if I look at my sales on getty, i see that they sell my images for 5 dollars as well.

I know the name is still microstockgroup, but many here are reporting RM sales as well, so  - why not?

The forums are made for the same. For questions and answers. And i am not forcing you or anyone else to answer my questions. And i have always thanked your pvt emails and still thankful to you. And not only you but i am thankful to all who replied and are still replying my pvt emails and love to share their experience and suggestions. And never ever asked me to stop asking anything because they are real Learner and they know everyone start with the same stage and learn from others. None has come to this world trained. Even i noticed that you (and no one else) minded my questions and from my 2 post onwards you had started saying that i have asked so many questions. And why not you tell about yourself. And then only i sent you email with my name and address. If you dont like my question then simply keep yourself away and be happy.
And though it is a microstock group site but if it had no place for alamy and other macro sites then there would be no separate section for these macro sites.
