I think Antistock was ignored by 30 or so folks here, so guess he/she is right that people here did not want to talk with him/her.

No doubt he/she will be back under a new name to troll some more.

If you really wanted to have "polite" discussions, I think most folks would be receptive to that. All I've seen from you lately is name-calling, ranting, and generally unfriendly behavior. No wonder no one wants to talk to you.

I tried. I asked you a question yesterday in the wikipedia discussion. You didn't respond.

Two things anyone should know about making a thread to broadcast they're leaving a forum:

- half of the members don't care

- the other half are glad to see you go

 ;)

Anti-social?!  Wow.  You come on here with the name "antistock," start blasting everyone who doesn't agree with your wildly paranoid ideas, basically calling everyone "stupid" in so many words, and you think we're anti-social?

Good riddance, Troll.

Why do some people feel the need to publicly announce their departure with great fanfare?  This happens a lot around here, and it leaves me scratching my head.

If someone really is fed up with this site and the community, isn't the rational thing just to stop posting?   Is it just some desperate grab for attention?  Do they hope to see a chorus of people begging them to stay?

And FWIW, I have yet to see anyone quit this group by publicly announcing it and actually stay gone.  If a troll rants in the woods and there's nobody around to read it, did they make a point?   The lure of an audience is too great to resist.  Sadstock is absolutely right - antistock will be back under another name.  Maybe he/she's already signed up.

I am sure he has been here before..

I remember reading his kind of rants a few years back.. He was like a clone of those previous trolls that also left in similar manner..

Yet it is not easy to kill a troll. One story goes that if a troll comes to eat you, you must offer to feed him a lot of food first. Then, when the troll isn't looking, you put a backpack on your stomach. When you sit down to eat, you take a knife and cut a hole in the backback and shovel food into it. Tell the troll that he would be able to get food to his stomach faster if he cuts a hole in it like you did. That will be the end of that troll!

To be honest, I never thought of him as a troll, he had very controversial opinions and needed to calm down a bit, but he was never like Drugal, attacking other forum members for no reason, making nonsensical statements and so on.
I'm sorry he couldn't get his anger under control and stick around.

I wont miss him/her.  Most of the posts were the same.  Anyone that disagreed was wrong.  With that attitude, I thought they would be ideal for politics.  I don't like politicians.

Yep!  we have seen a few in the dark forests of Sweden. Terribly uggly creatures. Down in the outskirts of Gothenburg, around 1993, they found a dead one. A team took it to the Pathology dept, and a post-mortem was conducted. The result: no heart was found, one lung and one kidney, the most astounding discovery was that the very large cyclope eye in the middle of the forehead was in fact very similar to apperture blades and could be stopped down to f136.
Another two was lately spotted around Glasgow, Scotland.

Some of what he was saying was right.

You people should be getting paid for your work. That was basically his point. And that copyright and conventional  royalty models are under threat from markets, corporations and govts which seek to dilute existing models. Concept such as 'orphaned works' for example, which are used to push through the idea that it is for the copyright owner to show ownership - as opposed to it being for the user to ensure that they have the rights. Ditto the emerging idea that copyright is only really somehow valid if it is registered at cost.

His opinions run counter to the notion that these models should be shaped by inevitable trends.

I sort of agree with some of what I think he was saying - I think he was saying that a dilution of IP rights is being somehow dressed up or muddled up with internet freedom.

I don't think most would say that this isn't a legitimate concern.....that does seem to be the trend and we are not getting paid very well compared to the old trad days, for the most part. But you forgot the rest of his/her posts to complete the sentence: "You people should be getting paid for your work dumb arses, idiots, dimwits, wannabees, losers, dick heads...and the list goes on!

Exactly. It wasn't what he said, just the way he said it. (I'm guilty of that myself sometimes.)

I have a difficult time understanding why some contributors are still even at istock and some of the other sites after all the abuse they've doled out, but really, if everyone bailed like I did, the big guys will be getting exactly what they have in their master plan...squash microstock.

I really wish someone in the contributor's corner would come up with a solution (that no doubt will involve boatloads of money) to fight back. Rather than call me names, tell me specifically what I can do to help stop it. We all can see the problem. We need a solution.
