well now theres hope :)
beside each user there is now an 'ignore user' link. This will make their posts be hidden. In your profile settings you can see more options concerning this. The link may some day (perhaps soon) be removed, but the option to ignore will still be available in your user settings
Profilfe > Ignore user options

If you are getting private messages from someone you don't want to hear from anymore, you can go here

That's great, now all we need is an ignore whining about rejections button :)

the forum is alive and well again... ;)
and hopefully, snurder will come back. i know this was the same thing that drove snurder away many months ago, when i was a newbie coming in here. i met snurder here, leaf. and i want to find snurder again. hopefully here at the same place we met.

In real life we need an undo button.

I don't know why but I'm against it. That's pretty weird in a forum. No ?? I already saw a forum where people was able to evaluate each others, but they cancelled that, because of the intolerance it provided. At least the "muted" people should know they are IMO. It could give weird thread without that?

well they will only be muted to the person who they are constantly butting heads against. Everyone else would still see their posts. I don't imagine it will be used very often but when someone continually tries to 'attack' or single out another user, it might be alright for them to be easily able to ignore the other persons posts.

I prefer this idea . It's like instead of the bouncer throwing the guy out you put him in a sound proof booth with a mirror so he can scream at his reflection without bothering the other patrons Grin
He can still call the waitress for more pints of Guinness , of course.
a win win solution. Bravo Cool

Are you speaking from experience? ;D

Good choice - not that I choose to ignore many - but it's standard on most forums (ipb, phpbb) and I AM glad we have it...
-
I prefer not to ignore automatically. Once in a while one of them may write something worth reading. Rarely, but it may happen. :)

I think it's an option and options are good!
Is anybody even reading me?? Am I ignored by all ;D
-
In the bad old days when life was tougher and usenet ruled cyberspace, one dumped annoying characters in the KILLFILE.
-
Huh? Why is this thread blank?
-
Just kidding ... ;)
-
On usenet I am on everyone's kill file. I guess I am soon going to talk to myself.

When someone wants to ignore one's posting, is it so difficult to pass through ? Are there so many ennemies here ? What's next ? self-ban IP system to ignore this forum ? ;D

because after 5 cups of coffee, it's almost auto-pilot to stick a finger out the car window and scream f words when someone overtakes you in a traffic jam. same thing applies here ;)
