If you look in the forum area you will now see boards specific to various languages.  There is starting to be quite a few different nationalities and I thought that some of they might enjoy a side discussion in their mother tongue.

for those who don't understand a language and want to ignore the posts please go to

PROFILE > Ignore Boards Preferences

Then check off the boards you don't want to see.  This can also be useful if you don't want to see the 'rant' topic for example.

I am hoping this does not take away from the general discussion in english that everyone is taking part in.  I also hope that the languages that I do not understand do not create a big problem as far as moderation is concerned.  If things get out of control or if the boards are not used they will simply be removed.

Feel free to voice your thoughts / opinions.

Leaf,

Thanks for telling us how to turn off the messages in other languages.  That feature works great!

Im just a bit concerned that with this format we are going to miss out on the topics talked about in the other languages, as well as some of the international characters.

yeah i think that is a valid concern, but I think in the end it will hopefully bring more people to the forum who take part in both their native tongue as well as the english boards.

yes i would imagine that if someone found something important that wasn't being discussed in the english boards that someone who could speak both languages would translate it.

I think that actually posting in diffrent language is more going to be for unimportant subject or infos. I don't going to post important thing (If I have some) in other language. Also the feature allowing to disable some of the categories is great. It can be a mess whitout that. But as a suggestion only, it can be unattractive for new members to see the first page whit all these unknown languages topic.

If it was me I will make these topic on a different page whit maybe a link at the top for multi language topic... Just a thought

Although I'm happy to see a Portuguese board, I think their usefulness (for me) will be limited.  Besides off-topic discussions, I only see it as a means of helping people who do not know English well.  I don't see a point in discussing IS subs sales in PT/BR only, for instance.

Adelaide

I agree...altough it`s nice for a native spanish speaker like me to read spanish speakers...I wouldn`t post something really important only in spanish...in that case ....   I`ll do it in both ...
But i think there are lot of spanish speakers around microstock...
I guess we will see in the future a nice spanish forum though...

O..I`m new here...so.. Hello ! to everybody !

It's a good idea, and rightly so, but it remains to be seen (for us English speakers) how much posts we will lose form the boards.

So if Lev & the rest of the Russian micro guys come here you mean I won't have to translate THEIR forum anymore, I can just translate this one?  Score! haha

(I think I found theirs through IOFoto's blog - it's very good & LOTS of photographers...)

Did the option to disable parts of the forum disappear with the forum upgrade?

sorry for the delay, but the ignore boards options is back in business again.
To ignore a board (for example the language boards) go to
PROFILE > IGNORE BOARDS PREFERENCES

or follow this link
