Title: midstock section???
Post by: Phil on January 23, 2008, 01:35
just a thought.  there is a macro stock section (with just alamy and 'general')   should there be a 'midstock' section or even just a "general midstock" top level thread ??

I agree that there should probably be a "midstock" section in the forum to help further distinguish the likes of sites like FeaturePics (Allowing you to set your own pricing) and MostPhotos 12.5 Euro ($18.00) Commissions.

the problem with this is that most sites have both midstock and microstock parts and the line between the two is very grey.

Lucky Oliver has microstock prices, but in the sideshow you can price how you want.. midstock.
feature pics has a price your own set-up, so prices could be both micro or midstock
mostphotos.. yeah maybe $16 for an image is midstock, but it is still pretty cheap compared to macrostock

So my point is that i don't think we could have a midstock section with websites in there, because the websites would then have to go in two areas (micro and micstock) - which would get very confusing.

Perhaps what i am trying to say is that midstock IS microstock - just expensive microstock. :)

feel free to say your thoughts though!

I feel it will become even more so moving forward with a gravitation towards the hazy shades of grey "midstock" areas ...
