I don't really think that this current thread really applies to newbies. Best of luck to the OP though with your venture and welcome to the lions den!

I agree with everything FlemishDreams said - I think he said it well and the owners of the site would do well to listen to the advice given.  So here is another I agree.

also,
Perhaps they could have image upload free if you put them in the 'Marketplace'
If geotagging is part of the site, I don't see anywhere where it is searchable.  Wouldn't this be a great search method for buyers?
The watermark is VERY faint and will probably get a lot of complaints from microstock photographers.

sharpshot:
Thanks to Flemish for saving me some time clicking on the link.  I am not uploading to a site with large preview images and no watermark.  I disagree about mostphotos though, that site works for me.

What will it take for a new site to succeed?  They will have to forget us paying to upload for a start, that is ridiculous.  There are enough free sites that make money for us.  They will need a big advertising budget and lots of unique content.  I think it is almost impossible for a site launching now to generate enough sales to make it worth using.  Hopefully they will prove me wrong.

kgtoh:
I completely abhor "stock photo" sites that charge for hosting.
It's a clear conflict of interest and a certain indicator that they are not serious about selling your images.  They just want to make money from naive photographers.
