Just recorded our first SnapVillage sale- at $25. We're pricing almost all images at $25 with a few at the higher level.

Nice. That is like an EL sale every time. I am going to upload lots at higher prices when they get going.

Hi leaf,

We're in the process of uploading most of our collection (9,000+) with a few rejections along the way. I believe there's lots of room for microstock prices to increase. Thus I decided on a moderate SnapVillage price point to start. I would recommend the same to anyone uploading- if the client finds the perfect image, the difference between $5 and $25 won't keep them from using your photo. If you have a quality portfolio, push up the prices.

In addition, we're aggressively moving many of our Lucky Oliver images into the SideShow which is also enjoying good success. (One recently uploaded unique image is priced at $100 for the blog and $5,000 for the EL. Will definitely let you know if that one sells!)

yeah, i have been putting my images in the sideshow as well - it is also good there since you get 50% of the sale price.

I have my images priced at $10 on snap village. Perhaps I should put a few more higher, but if everyone put their images at $25, i think customers would just go to a different stock site. I agree that if they find the image they want, an extra $15 probably wouldn't stop them, but if they find 10 images they want, I think they would go to dreamstime and get them for $20.00 instead of $250.

I had also one

For me its easier to price higher because over the half of the images they have from me are not on any microstock-site. We need higher prices and i will fight for it

Yes it was a 50,- Dollar sale

And i also use the sidebar at LO had a 250,- sale about one week ago.

you are absolutely right. I hope this will be future of micros stock photography(or as some says midstock)
as long as the idea is supported by many photographers especially the leading ones like you, this might come true.and may be LO and snapvillage might be a good ground the make it happen.but at the same time wouldn't it mean we need to save our best work only for these site(which might lead loss of money for the time being) otherwise how come it would make change.as we all know buyers must be aware of the fact many of us uploading to multiple sites.
ideally I wish existing sites offered decent exclusivity programs and better pricing so that photographers wouldn't have to compete with their own prices ,which results from uploading to multiple sites of which prices varies

Despite my misgivings about SV, I'm given confidence by seeing Ron and his team upload there; I don't believe the Iofoto 'machine' would support a venture unless they believed in long term economic rewards.

So I've been uploading gradually over the last few days. Pleased to see some improvements to the site since I last uploaded weeks ago, but the thing is still very unstable; it doesn't seem to 'like' uploads of the maximum of five images and always times out, but when I reduce the number to three or four at a time it seems to work okay.

I'm not a world leading brand like Iofoto (!) so I am pricing everything at $10 for the moment. I don't want to undercut the existing agencies who have served me so well over the last few months, and besides - we all want prices to rise rather than fall.

Oh - I meant to mention that their implementation of IPTC is good, and recognises phrases in inverted commas from Bridge.

I was finally able to complete my first upload. did five okay but it only grabbed the iptc data on three,

I have uploaded about 200 now with very few problems. I do them 3 or 4 at a time but if they are small files, 5 at a time works. The reviews are taking about a week but they don't have many rejections. I think this is an advantage of getting in early, they might be more selective when they have 1,000,000 images.

I agree with that sharpshot - it makes sense to upload now while they are eager to build the collection.

So you'll be removing your images from the rest of the micros, since it wouldn't make sense to offer them for $25 in one place, and $1 in another? Or are you just hoping they aren't smart enough to search around?

I set 10$ as the default price...it seems to me to be enough fair, since the same photos are on the Big 6. Don't you?

Yes, $10 seems fair. It would be wrong to price any less than that because that would undercut the established agencies like IS who have proven sales and customer base. No point cutting off one's nose........
