Hmm!

I think most of what he said was directed at buyers.
Would like to see more enthusiasm shown for contributors and why they really should join up.

I don't think he said anything on uploading.
Just wish sales would load up a bit!

He didn't say much about why someone should join up. He mentioned price points between 1 dollar and 50 dollars. He said vague comments about quality. No compelling reasons. No enthusiasm. Had he said, "I'm the guy who, instead of getting fired, got stuck in charge of this mess" I'd say his presentation and the production value matched.

just to play devil's advocate, my sales there are increasing monthly (I do wish they would make a better $ split on the sales however). I thought the interview was laid back and casual. As an image buyer as well, I don't want some maniac in a clown suit juggling kittens, just tell me what you've got and I'll go check it out. If your product sucks, I won't be back etc...
I'm going to give these guys some more time as I think that some of the current players will likely meet a demise very soon (some I'll miss, others I won't). These guys actually have some advert $ and hopefully will opt to expend more when they have a large enough inventory.

I wonder if the low quality of the video and his amateurish appearance are supposed to reflect the standard of the services of SV. Casual is ok, but  this man looks like he's just been dragged out of bed to do the interview while a taxi is waiting outside to take him to the gym   ???

When I saw him, I wondered if he would be able to sell ice cream  to kids.

Hi all -

Sorry for the lack of explanation on this blog post.  Ivan is Senior Vice President for Corbis - Sales.  He is not in charge of SnapVillage. He was asked to speak about SnapVillage to PhotoInduced while at the Cannes Lions advertising festival a few weeks ago.

You're quite correct - this interview doesn't mention the contributor side much. This was meant to be a quick high level summary of SnapVillage - mainly targeting buyers.

We just thought it was kind of interesting and wanted to share.  ;)

If the video format is helpful - perhaps I can start putting some together on the contributor side going forward.

Hope you are all having a good July so far...

- Brian (SV)

I think SV should be concentrating 100% on getting buyers to the site.  If SV gets good sales, the contributors will find out at places like here and the site will be a success.

Some sites seem to think that just building a big library of images will work but our earnings can become so diluted that it doesn't seem worth contributing to the site.

It has been a few years since a new site has made a big impact in the microstock market and I hope SV can prove that new sites can still be a success.

Actually sales matter much more than FTP. I'm about a month off leaving due to practically no sales. And to pre empt the its your portfolio comments they sell at IS, SS, etc
