Has anyone had any pictures approved at Snapvillage? I uploaded a dozen or so to try it out. They were uploaded on 25th June, and are still just sitting there. Anyone else experiencing the same sort of thing, or have my pictures got 'stuck'?

I uploaded 80 images on June 25, and the first two were accepted the same day. By now 57 have been approved and one rejected.  A few views, but no sales.

No-one is going to get any sales while the site is still in Beta.  Beta means 'testing period'.

I uploaded ten pics right at the beginning and they were all accepted on the same day.  But I haven't uploaded anything since and I won't until they get IPTC sorted out.

There is absolutely no rush.

If they have got any sense, they will be using the traditionally slow summer period to refine the beta and get ready to go 'live at the beginning of September.

I uploaded 8 a couple of days after launch. It's a struggle. None have been reviewed yet.

They've done themselves a great disservice by launching like this. Contributors are discouraged from uploading by no FTP, no IPTC, dismal review speed, PayPal requirement, clunky website and no sales. Buyers are discouraged from buying by US only restrictions, summer slow period, very few photos and low image quality restrictions.

Basically, they've shot themselves in the foot. They had the brand, the marketing budget and the back-catalog to hit the market running and really compete. Instead, they've launched this thing that isn't appealing to anybody. In my opinion their strategy couldn't have been much worse.

Also, "beta" doesn't mean anything other than "we haven't finished it". Sales are possible, though at the moment they're extremely unlikely.

I have about 20 awaiting approval and 15 on line.  The 1 rejection was of a house and garden (mine) that needed a release.  When I went to look for a form I couldn't find it anywhere so it will stay rejected for a while.

I'm uploading new files only as it's easy to include sv in the list of upload sites

I have 44 waiting. That upload thing is the pits. Sometimes I get it to take 5, and next only 1 or it times out.

But fingers crossed. I am in for the long haul.

Hmmmmm .... I was getting ready to submit some images.

But, listening to all this, I think I'll wait for a while. Hardly seems worth the effort at the moment.

Yeah, I'm waiting too; I can't see any point in rushing to upload until all the beta ideas are fixed.

Hopefully Corbis will be watching and listening and will get everything prepared over the slow summer period.

I have been impressed so far, although a little surprised at their naivety over things like IPTC, watermarks etc and also their 'surprise' at the volume of image submissions.

Nonetheless let's sit back and wait for developments.

I have tried to upload but so far haven't succeeded - can't find the pics that I uploaded anywhere, like there isn't a "Waiting for approval" link or anything.  Unless its so well hidden that I can't find it (which is possible, I am not the world's greatest searcher for tiny links).
Let's see how it goes.  I figured if Corbis get's into the game I can't ignore them.

Yeah, I had the same problem first couple of uploads. There is an extra step you had to go through to complete the upload. You'd never know. Don't remember since it's been 2 weeks since I uploaded. Not worth the effort to go back.

tina - go to 'my portfolio' and you'll see a selection list of 'published' pending' etc..... just under the titels stuff at the top.  Your pending files should obviously appear in umm... pending.
